Go Landers!

I will try to make it down if only to hear the inspirational addresses of WJ.

and to write various bits of derogatory grafitti on the walls of Glenferrie Oval.

that's as close as we ever get to a solemn promise, biff...

we'll put you down...

if you can organise to bring extra water, that would be great, because we always run out...

players not allowed fire water until after the games, but no restrictions on helpers...

we can start drinking at 11am... :)

will be good to see biffen and rollinson together again after all these years, even if it is only a couple of demonlanders with site names that remember these two players from the 60's/70's...

looking forward to catching up with you on game day...

regards,

rollinson 65

Cloud cover and 14 degrees on sunday. Perfect for football. No rain

Let's not count on Melbourne's weather...

water and sunscreen are a proven must for these games...

Add me to apologies please Rollo. Sprained ankle will see me out for at least a couple of weeks.

I'm bringing my 7 year old grandson so no inspirational address or anything remotely like one although I might go with "DO SOMETHING!" at some stage. I've warned the kid not to utter any expletives and players are banned from smoking at half time.

Cheers guys

Oh ... and please be in attendance ½ hour before the scheduled start of your first game i.e 10.30 with gear.

And Rollo ... the final paragraph of your post is unnessary and needs to be deleted. We need to stay focussed and positive. I'm not interested in what happened in the past.

Cheers and thanks!

guess again, cowboy...

don't want to say further until I get a double confirmation...

I remember the sad time when we all thought that a bloke named scully was going to turn up...

Is the starting line up actually what you posted?

Scully is more then welcome to come down on the weekend if he wants. I have no Irish heritage but for Jim I think I could greet him with an Irish kiss.

no, mate...

Whispering Jack is the coach, and he never listens to me... ^_^

or anybody else for that matter...

good luck with the injury, mate...

would love to announce which senior player is coming to spectate on Sunday...

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
