At a local joint they have the Mighty Melbourne burger so I thought I'd give it a crack. It was pretty bloody good but as I got to the end I started "experimenting" with the burger by putting the meat on top of the bun and putting different sauces on it and basically I just ruined it to the point where I couldn't eat it. My wife asked me what I was doing and I told her that certain parts of the burger were never going to be eaten by me ever again so I wanted to try them out in different positions of the burger before I gave them the ass. I really regret it as it was a good burger in the first place. Now when I go back to the restaurant they never believe me that I just want to eat a burger they kicked me out for trying to ruin the culture of the restaurant. What a shame.

According to the commonly held views here CFH you need to:

  • cut deep and get rid of half the burger... even if it was ok last time
  • go for veal ... the youth option
  • get someone else to use the ingredients to remake the burger....but as a Kebab cos that is the way the restaurant up the street did it 2 years ago
  • just keep going for the next 5 years in the hope that one day the burger will actually be better

remember the one option not available is to simply go to a different restaurant that gives you what you need......dees supporters are made of sterner stuff

Cowboy - don't tell me what other people did with their burger, I only care about what you did.

And it was bad!

Cowboy, that Burger would've been feral anyway - it hasn't been good for 60 years.

This happened a long time ago. (any references to MFC related is just coincidental)

I was living up north, with my girlfriend at the time. When the company I was employed with had vacancies for a highly paid position in 3 other states. But it would require convincing my girlfriend / (finace to be) to agree to leave family and friends.

So after a long debate, we decided to make the move to Melbourne.

We were renting a home, and seen this as a great oppununity for a better lifestyle. I applied for the position in Melbourne, ignoring the same position in 2 other states. but seen Melbourne as the better option. After a number of interviews, that took a few weeks of negotiating, I was successful, we had a farewell party with family and friends.

We took out a bank loan for a 3 year contract. figuring our combined wage would cover a modest house and have that paid off, then sell that, and invest in a better, bigger home after a 3 year period.

One year in and my GF got cancer, leaving me to pay the loan, on top of medical bills etc, with only one wage I had to go to the bank and requested an extentsion of the original loan, It took awhile but finally came to an agreement to remortage the orginal loan to a 5 year plan.

It was a trying time, but I stuck with it and was keeping my head above water.

With 2 years of treatment she was well on the way to recovery.

Everyone had their hopes up, including us, that we would get back on track with our original plan, and have the lifestyle we dreamed about.

That was until my company went into receivership, and I was now out of work. We cut our loses, sold the house, paid out the remaining balance of the bank loan and rented out a unit.

A lot happened in the meantime, the tress took its toll, she got a better offer to move to Sydney, with a huge pay rise.

We parted ways. leaving me struggling in Melbourne, with a low esteem but still a liitle light at the end of the tunnel.

I went from a great job, the house paid in 3 years, to having to remodel the loan to 5 years, and almost start from scratch.

I got involved with some shonky people, they were willing to help me out with finaces, but it involved some underhanded dealings.

These were investigated, but nothing proved, I vowed never to go down that path ever again.

I am now well into another rebuild, my life, and work have now stablised. I bottomed out,and did it hard.

I learnt 3 or even 5 year plans dont always work, dont believe the hype of Melbourne is the place to be.

So if you get a job offer to go to Melbourne, tell them to get stuffed.

Would love to see this thread expanded at the expense of another draft or culture topic

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
