based on current form Id have to agree but I think he will get there.

Caddy is a big bodied midfielder who has decent pace and a decent tank with good disposal and can hit the scoreboard. Would definitely take him for Martin or pick 13 & Bail. If we baulk at getting him because we don't want to get rid of Bail I would be extremely [censored] off with the club it would be another massive blunder.

I think people overrate draft picks, a lesson I would have thought we'd have learnt of recent times. Caddy went pick 7 two years ago and has had a couple of good games - there is nothing to indicate pick 13 this year is going to be a vastly better player and Caddy already has two years in the system.

If its one thing our club is crying out for it is midfielders who can kick goals. Jones is currently our only one (but not multiple goals a game) and hopefully Trengove will get there too. Caddy can kick multiple goals a game which is something we could sorely use.

If picks are over rated then dont use them to argue a players worth. Fact is Caddy had an average year/career at GC. Had "a few" good games. Not worth pick 13 in thsi market. maybe our second rounder IF Viney is pushed at pick 3

But that's what I'm saying. If he was rated a pick 7 two years ago then how can we make the assumption the player rated as pick 13 this year is going to be a much better prospect. Caddy hasn't dominated games but he has had a couple of very good games playing in a very poor side. He is also the exact type of player we need and has a couple of years in the system something a potential pick 13 would not. Would I rather get Bennell or Swallow from GC? Of course but theyre not on the market and if they were it would cost much more than pick 13.

Cats are now interested in Caddy. Says they also have plenty of cash. Bombers also still keen. I think we would be long odds.

To do the trade you gotta have the picks and the Cats (pick 15+) and Bombers (pick 30+) don't. So who are they sending to GC in exchange for Caddy?

From memory, Cats have a least one compo pick from Ablett left. GC, who are having to reduce their list substanially and already have O'Meara on the books, may be much more interested in banking a compo pick than having another first round pick.

Have Geelong activated that pick for this year?

They may have but I believe clubs had to nominate early in the year (March I think) to activate their compo pick for the draft later in the year. They have until 2014 to use the pick if it was from a GC Suns recruitment from memory.

Isn't he OOC. So trade may not be on the table.

He may be OOC but not a FA so he goes where GC trade him to.

I would think a pick 15-20 would more than suffice

Not if Melbourne, Richmond, Carlton or St. Kilda are willing to offer their first round picks.

There is no doubt Essendon want him but they have nothing to trade so it is unlikely they'll get him.

A hypothetical 3-way trade could occur with Geelong offering up picks, Tippett going to GC and Caddy to Geelong. Still think we should go hard for him though.

We can offer better picks than Geelong and more probable Adelaide will accept them. We can easily offer the best win-win-win deal.

Obviously, Kelvin Lawrence will go for a number 2 pick if GWS offer pick 1. I think he is worth no where near pick 12 on current form.

Josh has officially informed Gold Coast of his want to return to Victoria.

Let the bidding war begin.

Did he not make the same statement last year?

He had a year remaining on his contract last year.

Bombers can only trade for him - their first pick will be used for Daniher and Hird said he wanted to keep as many players as possible.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
