Trade Bait

The picks we get for them leaving can be traded which will be the same value.

I believe we get compensation picks for Unrestricted

I think you will be surprised at how low the compensation will be.

The formula involves the wage at their new club and games played the previous couple of years and IIRC possibly B+F finishes.

It won't be much.

The formula is an AFL secret, just like the PP formula is now a secret too.

Yeah, but I could have sworn I saw an article where the discussed some parameters...

IIRC, when HWFUA was on his way to Breakfast Point there was some discussion in the papers about why we got such a good deal (only good because we are crap this year) and it surrounded wage, past effort, importance to last seasons efforts, (draft position was taken into consideration but surely won't with RFA and UFA) etc.

Tapscott for Caddy

I'm not sure what the fuss is about Caddy. Why would we trade Tapscott for the 5th or 6th best player in a wooden spoon side. FFS, he had 11 possessions against us on Sunday. I'd need to be convinced he was running on one leg to excuse that performance. I'd rather have the grunt of Tapscott. At least he knows how to make the opposition nervous.

The FA compensation is not based on the same formula as the GWS OOC compensation.

Totally agree, there are quite a few we should be looking at before Caddy.

People are massively overrating this guy... he has had one or two good games this year, no more.

Yes, but they would have to be similar.

Me too Crawf52

I saw nothing on sunday to get excited about.

If he is worth what some people are claiming why do we think GCS would hand him over.

if he is that good they will want to keep him

Neeld's modus operandi appears to be contested ball. So I'd imagine he would look very closely at trading Bennell, Morton, Watts, Martin, Jurrah and Davey. Then there are guys such as Petterd, that have some currency.

jones would totes get the deal done for caddy, but bugger that, keep jones!

Wouldn't even be top 10 at GC. A lot of hype without much to show for it.

My opinion of who we will want to get rid off and what I think they are worth.

BATE Mid 3rd round draft pick or will be delisted but will take what we are offered

BENNELL early 3rd round draft pick or we will keep.

PETTERD mid 3rd round to early 4th round but will take what we get(I really hate to say that)

MORTON Mid 3rd round hopefully or possible part of a trade but will take anything.

LAWRENCE delist

Bail delist

Joel MACDONALD early 3rd round or part of a trade package otherwise keep.

GREEN retired

So that is 6 off the list at least to allow for draftees.

names I think we would consider as part of major trading as part of getting a big name

SYLVIA

MAGNA

MOLONEY

SYLVIA

Now my opinion on a few that this thread have bagged.

TAPSCOTT - he and viney in 3 years will be the same as selwood and chappy.

And DUNN will stay as although not overly talented he can be given a job when we are lacking and will do a half reasonable job at either end of the ground.

My opinion of who we will want to get rid off and what I think they are worth.

Mitsubishi?

Seriously, I, too, think that Dunn is worth keeping. Can be coached to do a job.

I think bail could attract some value, if only coupled with one of our picks for a better pick

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
