Box Hill Hawks v Casey Scorpions

Green killing em early

Sad really....Brad Green and Cameron Bruce in the twos

Skills of Jurrah and Green a standout

I reckon this team would beat the team playing last night.

There are six or seven Melbourne players who genuinely could be knocking on the door for a promotion to the AFL next week, you would think they would be playing with a bit more desperation.

Two goal lead to Casey at quarter time in a dull game.

Casey Scorpions 2.5.17 to Box Hill Hawks 0.5.5

The Scorps were kicking to the end favoured by the breeze in the first quarter.

I agree - intensity not great.

Blease looks hungry.

First time for a while I've seen Spencer, it's like watching the progress of a glacier and he moves about as fast, terrible skills.

Jurrah must play next week...our best by a mile

lets hope we can put another 4-5 on the board in the 3rd with the wind and put this game to bed nice and early.. jurrah all class, liking blease today as well

Agree - list clogger.

Watching Casey on TV:

Get Jurrah to the Dees ASAP. He is excitement and intensity in everything he does

It is a mistake playing Watts, Green, Tapscott, Blease, Jurrah in the twos. They might not be in great AFL form but they are all far too good for the VFL. They are all a class above. Just leave them in the Dees and let them grow, playing multiple games together.

Lucas Cook is interesting. I don't reckon his fitness is great, but could he do any worse than Martin, Fitzpatrick have offered?

They all need to show more urgency and show that they really want to be playing in the AFL.

You have to remember cook had a very injury interrupted pre season and is only playing his third game of the year- he still needs to get match fit for a few more weeks.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
