Integrity, Vlad?

Vlad continually refers to the integrity of the game and the competition, but really, where is it?

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-news/calls-for-drastic-draw-reforms-as-bookmakers-ban-bets-on-greater-western-sydney/story-e6frf9jf-1226323306206

I was thinking about this on Sunday as I watched the scores come in (couldn't bring myself to watch the games) from the Vlad franchise teams' games.

Now it won't effect us this year but in terms of teams playing for top 8 or top 4 the number of times you play these teams will make a huge difference in terms of points and percentage.....there will be no "integrity" unless or until the FIXture becomes a draw, or each club plays each other twice.

Poor planning on the part of AFL.

While we're on the topic of Andrew Demetriou's integrity ...

"Last week the AFL said Davey, in a conversation with Mifsud, was remorseful, apologetic and hurting. Davey vehemently denied any such feelings."

Now, we are told the exact opposite ... that it was Mifsud who "misinterpreted" what Davey said. This, despite going on record last week as saying what Davey said was "clear and unmistakable".

I still think Neeld should sue. So should Davey.

* Edit ... Caro weighs in on the AFL's "whitewashing" of the truth in this matter ... http://www.theage.co...d=1334064974811

So Caro still sticking with the story that Davey either outright lied or embellished the story and all Mifsud did wrong was leaking this? Something really stinks here.

Its either Davey embellished the story or Mifsud made it up on top of being astonishingly indiscrete in the release a confidential conversation with an indigenous player.

Its apparently "settled" but these outstanding issues will be worked out behind the scenes.

If that is what happened both of those blokes should pack it in now. They would be two extraordinary breaches of trust.

Seems Caro is no longer sitting on the fence (re whos telling the truth) as she said she was on 3AW

Seems you were right after all Rhino re what Caro really believes

Davey really is in an uncomfortable place (truth or untruth) and for a number of other reasons

His best bet is to get out on the field and play like he used to play

Im just intrigued by the notion that there is any way possible the words Vlad ( AD) and Integrity could ever be in the same line !!

Ought to be in the Webster Dictionary as prime example of an oxymoron.

Having to use the "i" word too often to defend a position almost always means there isn't any. It's one of those natural truths like when slugs and snails appear after it rains.

Exactly. The other bets/options are even more uncomfortable for the player and the Club.

His first effort at redeeming himself against Brisbane was underwhelming to say the least.

And the only reasoning she gives for believing Mifsud over Davey is: "he would not have been supported - as he clearly has been - by the AFL Players Association CEO Matt Finnis, who defended him again yesterday."

That is specious reasoning.

The AFL or Finnis don't know what Davey said in that meeting, it isn't reason enough to doubt Davey's word.

So this is over?

Yeah, but with a giant 'F... You' from the AFL to Aaron Davey.

It's a good thing for them Aaron is in terrible form, otherwise we might give a sh!t.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
