What is our new game plan under Neeld?

What a fantastic question! Maybe I'm dumb but I couldn't see any plan whatsoever.

e. Don't direct kick, just kick as long as possible to an outnumbered contest.

#2. Kick-ins.

a. Play on to self but only after allowing the opposition to know you are about to do it.

b. Wait till you are rushed with kick. Hold onto ball until about to get bumped/tackled.

c. Direct the ball as close to boundry about 60m out.

d. Ruckman/talls are never to occupy the area close to boundry. KEEP AWAY!!!!

e. Repeat over and over because opp are too stupid to ever work this out.

Went today hoping that NAB cup style was Neeld forcing the players to practice some certain sequences and patterns so that they are familar during the season when they are needed.

For example, the long kick down the boundry line to a contest because all other options are exhausted - switch of play, chip kick through press, run and carry through zone, etc.

Disappointed to find out (way before quarter time) that this was our one and only style.

I've read its based off pies but I thought they hug the boundry from back post to about 70 out and then direct the last kick into the 50 towards the middle. We seem to continue the hug all the way to the point post.

Also, I'm sure Ive seen the ball occassional go through the centre square when a pies player is free.

We seem to treat the square as if the ropes have been introduced to keep the spectators off.

I suppose though that today there was a fine line between players and spectators "running" around in the jumper.

One pretty significant indicator I think was sometime in the second half, Trengove jogging off to the bench after a Lions goal - he was stopped in his tracks by some signal from the bench, and expressed his bewilderment by holding both hands palm out to those giving the instructions as if to say "what the f***'s going on?"

Then with an expression of annoyance he turned and ran to the centre for the bounce.

It wasn't a good look from one of our captains.

My interpretation was that Trenners was as mystified by what was going on with the Fat Controller & his henchmen on the bench as the rest of us, but who knows what was really happening out there?

This definitely seems to be the one and only gameplan we've implemented. Neeld seemed to be completely non reactive. It was a shamble. There were no glimpses of it coming off or being a potentially good plan. Unfortunately it seems that were stuck with it. Thats what the players have been practising all pre season, and thats what theyre going to have to learn to get right. So realistically were back to square one. New coach, new gameplan, more waiting. Godddddd im frustrated.

Are you an insider..cause this is eerily close.

You have to question, is it worth instilling this for an entire season if they aren't the right type of players to implement it? The impact of players like Blease who can provide a bit of run and carry are effectively nullified.

I don't recall ever witnessing such a one dimensional style. It was insipid.

Beautiful, and completely accurate. In summary, play the MOST predictable game ever to hit the paddock, in turn becoming the easiest team in the AFL to play against........didn't we hear something to the polar opposite uttered by Mr. Neeld when he took the job. This gameplan CANNOT make us harder to play against.
