The Dave Matthews Band put out some decent stuff in the early 2000's but here's a couple from the mid 90's ...

Ha ha ... there's been more than a few muso's who have divided opinion.  It sort of goes with the territory.  They say that you never want to meet your favourite author too.

I'm more about the music itself these days nb.  I've got to get into some more new stuff though.  Quite like Imagine Dragons ...

Went to old school Elton John last night ( some artists I can' t move on from) - First time i saw him was 1971 at South Melbourne footy ground - he dressed up like a chicken.

His voice is passed its prime - he doesn't hit the high notes anymore. Boy oh boy does he still give good concert - he went a tick over two hours - played a couple from his new album and then went through his hits ( which some were missing as you cant fit everything in).

He has slowed but is still the showman and gives everything. A really great gig.

We all know the great guitarists like Clapton, Hendrix, Townsend and Page, so I thought I'd throw in a couple of lesser known lights, who I consider to be among the best:

Bill Nelson from Be Bop Deluxe (featured no less than bass player Charlie Tumahali formerly of the Australasian band Healing Force):

Crying to the Sky:

and former Fleetwood Mac guitarist (when they were a decent band) Peter Green:

End of the Game (if you can get your head around the free form approach, this playing is simply unbelievably good):

Bit of name dropping in this thread!! Healing Force released that absolute classic "Golden Miles". Mal Logan (keyboards) is a good mate of mine. (Also a long time Tigers' supporter: he's still in seventh heaven!!)

Going right back this time ... it's great viewing these old clips in blu-ray though.  I especially like the intro from Lennon in the 2nd clip.

For locals - at Memo Music Hall, they have a night, once a month hosted by Brian Nankervis where people bring in their favourite vinyl that has some story attached to it. Brian walks around prior to commencement of the show and talks to the audience and picks the best people to bring up - 3-4 people. He also has a couple of guests come in and they have a chat and talk about their favourite influences and play a couple of songs acoustically . The night I went they had Steve Kilby in who i love and is as quirky as all get up and he didn't disappoint.

The next one is on this Wednesday but i cant make it.

Is that the only time it will occur in November?  I'm planning on heading down to Melbourne for a few (5) days around mid November and wold love to have made it along.  Anything else of note that's coming up?

This band is the Low Down Riders playing at the same bar (in Marrickville) that my band plays every month.  Their line-up seems to change almost every time they play so I've not seen this large line-up before (usually just a three or four piece).

I saw them a few weeks ago with a visiting Melbourne "troubador" named Archer... that was brilliant; if you like CW Stoneking, then you would adore Archer.

And here is Archer...

I might try to make it along to the ‘aints gig. Pete Oxley’s an old acquaintance from way back in the days of his earlier band The Shy Imposters and it would be a good chance to catch up... also, as I’m missing out on seeing the ‘aints here in Sydney, that could work out well.

Came across this youtube compilation today entitled top UK 100 of the '70's.

It features 10 second clips of each song and only goes for 15 minutes or so.

Worth watching for some of the clips alone let alone the costumes

PS and who are number '74 above

What a combination of cringe & classic

#74 was Brotherhood of Man - better known for their Eurovision efforts. "Kisses For Me" I believe did ok out here.

Having said that, I'm off to find what remains of my musical credibility

This one has had over 1.5 Billion YouTube views...

I remember when music was for listening, for a song this makes better viewing than listening and I think you can see why it had so many views.

Great sound. Thought they may be Cuban, googled and discovered they were Jamaican and were named the Jolly Boys by Errol Flynn of all people in the 1950’s  when Errol was hanging out there between film assignments and court cases. The name stuck.

@Macca, this one features Drew Zingg on guitar...very underrated player. Probably the best of the Steely Dan live show players.

Donald Fagan did this New York Rock & Soul Revue show that started as kind of a cover band, then added a few 'Dan' songs before it morphed  back into a full on Steely Dan reunion after 12 years of separation.

Great stuff just downloaded the Fagan version but not picking up Zingg on iTunes music library. Anyway managed to download 3 or so related great songs from this lead. Micheal McDonald, ex Doobies and so on. Thanks for that.

Somehow lead me to Randy Crawford and Foreigner and on and on...

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
