A minor point

Can these return tags at the end of a thread be made more prominent? Preferably turned into button controls

Also, can the Next_Unread_Topic function be made to work LIFO rather than FIFO

As it is I can't use it unless I go into all the old unread threads and mark them read

Using this function could really speed up navigation

I'll investigate whether this can be changed.

The only problem I have is the time lag and slowness of trying to post/read on my iphone, which sucks because I pretty much only have time to read on the run.

The main problem is that I'm finding whilst trying to troubleshoot things is that different browsers and different platforms and different devices display things differently and it is a pain in the butt trying to make everyone on every possible device/platform/browser happy - including myself.

Eg: The issue above where the name of the topic starter under the topic title appears larger than the topic title is like that on the iPhone but appears perfectly fine on my Mac in all browsers, that is, the Topic Title is in a larger font than the person who started underneath it. Very frustrating. Nothing I can do about that. I will leave it the way it is because it is easier to zoom on the iPhone.

Not sure if you got this from last evening Andy as i actually replied to you via Mono who was also asking if it was opossible to condense lines and/or fit them to page width if possible....>>>

"Andy... not wanting to tell you "how to" as i'm only a novice when it comes to CSS and web design, but any possibility you could try a fluid page layout using a percentage (%) or 0 under percentage in the CSS page wrap command? I think that might help the page auto re-size (scale) in almost any browser and screen resolution. One thing i enjoyed on the previous site was that it auto scaled (from memory i think so anyway) so i didn't need to use the bottom scroll bar to read the sentances in each post. They just fitted/scaled into the screen size (res). This might cause other significant issues of course so not expecting any miracles either."

End (thanks for listening lol)

Andy... you used to have a provision to sign up to get rid of the ads, become a life member or something similar. What happened to that ?

Could you elaborate? Not sure what you mean.

When creating a post there is an icon to add a link (there is none to add a media link as there used to be)

When you click to add a link there are two options - one to select //http, //https etc - second to enter the URL

There used to be a third box to enter text (to display when showing link instead of url)

I have used the new site on several mediums (Mac Book Pro, PC w/ Windows XP Professional, and iPhone) and it looks pretty good on all of them for me!

Add your link normally and it will appear underlined. Then click the icon in the top left of the posting editor. When the mouse is over it says "Toggle Editing Mode". Click that and it brings up the Coding. Change the second appearance of the web address to the text that you want to display and then Post. Long way around but it will have to suffice until or if it get changed in a future update.

Eg: This (without the spaces after the [ and before the =):

[ url =http://www.demonland.com]demonland

Just a quick note - Please try not to use Internet Explorer to use this site. It is doing a whole range of funny and funky stuff and it is not a safe browser anyway. My main gripe is that when you are logged in in the posts the username of the poster is dropping off the line it is meant to be on and is nearly covering the avatar. I have no idea why this is happening as it is not happening in any other browser on the same platform. I have now had a chance to use the site on Windows 7 (as I only have XP at work and Macs at home) and I must say that Internet Explorer is just terrible. IE 9 on Windows 7 is much better than IE8 on XP but not by much. It is mainly better in the smoothness of the text when compared to XP. In my experience testing the past few days. Windows 7 (using FireFox and Chrome) is far superior to XP (using the same) which is no surprise. I haven't tried Vista but WindowS 7 is most likely better. But I must say it all looks better on a Mac.

Anyway enough of that lecture. Moral of the story is DON'T USE INTERNET EXPLORER TO VIEW THIS SITE! Firefox and Chrome are FREE and SAFER and can be installed in a matter of minutes by anyone and you can view this website without any issues. I will not be attempting to correct or seek a correction to an error that is only showing up in Internet Explorer.

Andy.... When we post using a link to a page or some external url we used to be able to label it. Now we only get the actual link addy. Possibly a nothingness but looks untidy etc. Its not as informative either in th econtext of a posters message. Just mentioning (smiley face..lol )

I was taking a look around on the ipb (forum software) site and apparantly this is a new type of post text editor so maybe there will be an minor update to correct this in the future. It is the same text editor that is used in vbulletin boards now as well so is probably the standard in message board editors.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
