The New Sponsors

Featured Replies

I certainly wouldnt get your hopes up of getting a FOJ sponsor anytime soon, probably not before round 1 either.

Now that we've got a few words on the matter from Cameron Schwab, can this utterly pointless 24 page thread cease to exist?

I know we are all Harvard Business graduates with extensive expertise in sports sponsorship, but our input is still unnecessary.

Is he telling the truth though? Or is he just towing the company line?

But yes 24 pages of SFA!

No, he's lying about not having finalised a sponsor, because that makes so much sense.

And even if he is lying, his lies are more interesting than reading 24 pages of people going "OMG we are never going to get a sponsor, the club will go under, this is a complete mismanagement, it's crisis time. I blame Jack Watts".

You forgot to mention the contributing factors of Moloney, Jones & Morton

Might as well throw in Dean Bailey for leaving the club like this and why not Brad Green for his inability to find new sponsors too.....

Read the Fin Review. It's tough out there. I would rather wait for a big solid sponsor myself, and as Cam stated there is a plan B in place until that happens.

Silence!.. You kill me.. ?!

Last week, I was mostly eating .... chicken (with a side of cabbage). <-- alternate.

I did read the "Fin" review WYL. I didnt say he wasnt telling the truth and I agree with waiting. I couldnt care how long it takes really.

Cool. Many people on here just want a sponsor. I want a really good one, & and for that prepared to wait.

I just sent you a PM.

Yes, they haven't been consistent contributors on this thread...

I'm a little confused about something.

In today's football lift-out in The Age, there is an ad for Energy Watch under the Melbourne summary. It says "joint major sponsor".

So I assume the club is going for a similar sponsorship deal as it had for the last few years, only that now Energy Watch is worth about as much as one major sponsor at other clubs?

Is this why the club is struggling to find a sponsor for the front? It's priced the back quite high, and so therefore has to charge more for the front (otherwise Energy Watch would be pretty [censored] about paying more for less exposure).

The Energy Watch deal might be the biggest in history, but has it essentially compromised the club's ability to get a front sponsor? At least initially?

Yes...The Board has decided to Aim higher in all areas it seems...i hope they stick to their guns.

Otherwise we will dry up and die.

wyl I was on the patient side for the last three months waiting for the big announcement.

Now reading between the lines I doubt there was ever a real chance of a second major sponsor.

I think it was largely wishful thinking, I doubt there was a real chance more likely a large hope.

Bingo. Just like we heard Scully's situation was progressing nicely. We too naive. The irony of a club who so desperately needs money to survive, not having the ability to sew up a second sponsor and having the decision accepted by members, which according to WYL is saving us from death is absolutely lost on me.

It was suggested by members we take on a new and in my opinion excellent phrase that we need to take on which is "no more excuses". Us being told talks broke down with the Chinese company so we're back to square 1 with a week before the start of the season is making excuses.

And that is exactly what i would expect you to say OD

To you the glass is half empty...me, half full...

i said before christmas i do not care if we have no FOJ all year as long as we get the right one in time.

Others won't...i don't care...i am more interested in seeing players put their hand up this year....off field has done a truckload..time for the players to draw the people..

Win a few and the sponsorship will get even better.

I haven't heard to the contrary...so until an announcement is made...

Revenue is up to $40 mill...we can afford to get a good long term deal..

Revenue of said club...2008..... around $24-25 mill

Projected 2012...around $40 mill

A new Sponsor would be superb....but we can afford to search for real Gold, rather than a quick fix IMO

Does the projected $40 mill include a membership of 37000 and the missing sponsor?

Ask the CEO.

Ask the CEO.

Don't think he talks to me anymore wyl

I keep disagreeing with his terrible choice of the colour RED

So the answer is yes!

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
