The match review said Clint could have been best on ground had he kicked the three goals. There's the rub.

Sadly for Clint he is one too many without foot skills. You could maybe tolerate him if we weren't so deficient. But Clint, Jordie, MOrton, Joel Mac, Rivers, Garland (often), Jones, Bennell, Scully, Grimes and Strauss (yet to see the laser foot) being poor kickers means some have to go.

For mine a lot of AFL players just cant kick. It amazes me tha tsurely a foundation skill of the game is notoriously missing from many who play it at its highest level.

Some players you can teach to kick better...but they invariably have the makings already, just some bad habits. Others , to be blunt just cant kick for sh!t and never will !!

Barty strikes me as the latter

Barty's best work is as a tagger.. that shis one trick.

Lot's of kids play soccer and other sports at school now and the game as we know it, is no longer the sole occupier of kids time in the yard. We used to get out in the yard at Lunchtime or whenever and kick the footy, we used to play amongst ourselves after school and we used to go to the local park for a kick to kick on weekends. Nowadays a lot of kids don't start playing Aussie Rules until they decide that they have no future in soccer or that basketball is a waste of time.

Interesting article about taggers and stoppers and the demise of them in modern football. Interesting also the final bit about Kane Cornes playing 174 games in a row before being dropped this year after round three, I reckon Port are saying he's a required player hoping they can get something for him in a trade; it seems that the day of the tagger is over and if that's all you can do then goodbye.

You would think being able to kick would be a prerequisite of being a football player.

....and when / if we approach the "Premiership window" and the list builds, these guys who provide the grunt at the moment but can't deliver, will fall by the wayside.

This thread and supporters in general are not hard enough on Bartram's kicking and decision-making.

When he gets the footy in his hands, he manages to commit atrocities that crush the heart of football teams, especially those filled with kids that haven't been battle hardened.

A team like Collingwood may be able to carry a turnover merchant, but guys like Bartram are hampering the team's development.

He's not our only turn over merchant, by far. Why rid ouselves of one who has a crack every time he plays. Find a satisfactory replacement first. I just want players who will have a crack right now.

Also, bring Warnock back too so Frawley and Rivers can be released to more reasonable matchups.

Plus, copped a lot of attention from the Tige's, who weren't allowing him to get away with that close tag. Would have needed some ice after that match!

Played really well today. Was one of the few who really went hard all day when we had so many just spectating particularly early on. Unfortunate scapegoat who has to fight for his place every week but generally earns it through hard work. May not be a LT solution but atm he gets rightly gets a run.

Big call, Cotchin was likely to torch us without Bartram's work and it's not the first time he has shut down the oppositions best this season.

Don't you think that, at least for the short term, players with Bartram's determination are invaluable? Sure, others might push him out at a later stage and that's a great thing for our side but for now we need as many guys as we can get who are willing to go in hard.
