Both. But if I had to choose between the two I'd say Miller. More mature physically and can be put into the backline. Dunn's a ripper but it's his first season, and while Miller doesn't have a great history in finals football, he does have about 50 games more experience.

Having said that I'm not sure I'd be disappointed to see Dunn line up. Great experience for him leading into a big future with the MFC.

Dunn easily. He's more creative and a natural footballer, and will chip in with a few goals, better at ground level. Give him the 3 pre-seasons in the gym that Miller has had and he'll not be small and soft.

you cant teach someone to be hard at the ball the way miller is, it just comes natural. from what ive seen of dunn he will always be soft.

I refuse to vote! It is liking choosing between pam anderson and carmen electra, both have very HANDY talents and you would be happy with either.

You are having a laugh aren't you. Hard at the ball Miller? Did you even see his games against the Eagles and Brisbane this season? Some of the most insipid, soft pieces of play I've EVER witnessed from a supposed tough guy and team leader.

Dont be fooled by Miller's biggish frame and unshaven look, he gets pushed away by smaller opponents and doesnt like the physcial contact some people are lead to believe. When he leads he runs underneath the ball because he fears contact from behind if he is to slow down and put his arms up to the ball.

The Akermanis incident where he punched the ball because he thought he was surrounded by opponents was typical Miller, when he should have just grabbed the ball and taken what he thought was some opponents and taken the tackling pressure.

jeez, gave dunny a fair pasting. the bottom line is dunny is a smarter footballer who can create space for others while also jagging a few while millers a physically stronger and good hit up target. As Sat. showed we need a presence at CHF so these two boys should alternate as fwd pocket and CHF.

If you call getting involved in jumper punching incidents before the ball is bounced and getting a subsequent 2 week suspension as "flying the flag" then heaven help any football side you ever end up coaching.

If I was Neale Daniher I'd be seriously thinking of a trade involving Miller (not for Aker) but for another big-bodied CHF/CHB type. No idea who though.

In a perfect world, yes. I said at the get go of this thread that I'd have both as a preference, but we may need the midfield rotations, which makes numbers on the bench tight.

I'm right on the fence suggesting both, but like you pointed out it's Dunn's talent and scoreboard influence vs Miller's size and marking strength as a link-up man coming out of CHF.

I'm surprised people here have picked a definite winner out of these two, as I find the choice to be difficult. Either way a lot of things could go wrong with selecting either of these players, I wouldn't want to be the guy making the decision as you'd probably cop a lot of flack for it one way or the other.

When Dunn's 23 I'd suggest he'll be one of the better CHFs in the comp should he gain a bit of size and confidence in contested situations. Time will tell, but for now I suspect he won't gain 10 kilos by week one of the finals.

Don't overestimate this incident when judging Miller.

I think this was a clear demonstartion of Miller's lack of confidence at the time, whereby he felt it paramount to play safe rather than take a chance, and this probably clouded his judgement. Wev'e all seen it or done it like that at some stage.

That game would have been seen by him as a chance for redemption of some form.

I suspect his lengthy layoff is a process to try and get that confidence back.(Partly)

I don't see how tapping the ball over your shoulder without looking on the last line of defence is playing it safe, exactly the opposite, playing it safe would have been backing yourself to take possession free up your arms and be ready to give it off to a teammate in better position. Instead Miller heard footsteps and showed his lack of class and awareness in one fell swoop. Now as for that footsteps incident with the dropped chestmark in defensive 50 over at Subi, I've never looked at Miller in the same light since then. He's a shadow and should never be allowed inside defensive 50 ever again as far as I'm concerned.

Miller showed so much last year with his attack on the footy and presenting up the ground. Gave us great structure when pushing foward and kept leading hard all game. Inconsistnat at times, but he is still very young and needs time. Thats all.

His age and size are fair excuses, but there is no doubt currently that Dunn is soft. Leads wide up the ground and lacks second efforts - i'm not trying to put down the kid, his 19 years old with lots to learn - but at this stage; he CANNOT BE CHF (definitely on a foward flank) IN A PREMIERSHIP TEAM.

Look at the last 5 years CHF of premiership teams - Hall, Tredrea, Brown. YOU CANNOT WIN A PREMIERSHIP WITHOUT A SOLID HALF FOWARD LINE and although Miller does not compare to those names, he offers the hieght and grunt Robbo and Yze can't supply to complement and polish our half foward line.

i dont think you can call dunn soft. that kid has a bit of mongrel and it will show thru with time. he doesnt take [censored]. remember that he is 18 or 19 and that he still has a bit of growing and another 10 kilos to add efore you see him throw his weight around.

i do rate miller. and think he will importnat for us. but until he can fix up his kicking he will never be a great forward. and when he is down on confidence there is no way he can play back.

Dunn is not strong enough to play as a CHF at this stage. But he can be more than handy as a third tall. Miller can then take the CHF role, lead further up the ground or even help out in the backline if needed.

IMO it is not a case of either or, because in the long term both will be part of our best 22. With Neita and Holland both coming to the end of their careers, we need to develop both these guys, it's that simple.

Sure you might have some higher up in the pecking order but it doesn't mean they all wouldn't have a place in the best 22. Lynden is 19 and has had a good 'first' year. Miller has had his worst season however that doesn't mean he is useless.

Methinks this was just a stunt for the original thread starter to start bandying about the cliche` "soft" to fool others into thinking they are some kind of objective luminary when judging teenage footballers rather than giving them deserved support until they have time to establish themselves with the big boys.

Mate, my brother and I have been picking 'best teams' and 'who'd you rather' over beers for 20 years (not continuously :D ). It's a part of footy I enjoy and makes winter go quicker. What gets you through the cold months ?
