The AFL injury report states he had a corked upper leg.

Well that is consistent with what I saw, rather than buttocks.

He still may not get up given short week for them.

Expect all restaurants and cafes to  increase prices pretty dramatically,  to cover rising food and running costs. Fact of life these days.

Trying hard to not put too fine a point on this but perhaps it’s a corked lower buttocks? I mean, in terms of applying an ice pack, where does the buttocks end and the upper leg begin? And does it matter? Ie, is there a difference regarding recovery of such? Serious question as I’ve never had a corked anything.
Regardless, I hope he fails the fitness test today.

On a lighter note: it seems tomatoes are the new bananas…

Curse you, BBO! You’ve put the mozz on me…

I bought one this morning ($1.90, for just one!), just cut into it and it’s all green and gross on the inside. I should’ve gone the soggy newspaper route. 😡

He didn't seem very confident on 360 the other night, about being ok to play.

Wash your mouth out.

I just had a banana smoothie from Green Cup shop, which opened today around the corner from my place.

It is still the drink of choice for the discerning person.

Bit of interest on other threads about JVR possibly debuting tomorrow.

Don't see it happening unless BBB is not fit.

Without a doubt, it's happening everywhere.

Had a few of them. It really depends on the severity of the corky, they get graded into three categories. Using a leg as the example:
1. Mild – Not much swelling, nearly full range of motion
2. Medium – Possible swelling, difficulty walking
3. Severe – Bad swelling and internal bleeding, high difficulty walking, may need crutches.

The first week is usually the toughest. The location of this one doesn’t sound great so hopefully there was something to it and he can’t get that leap!

Will Ashcroft, likely number 1 pick, has selected the Lions, under the father son rule, in the same week as Sam Darcy, another father son top 3 pick, makes his debut for the Dogs and a week after Jamarra Ugle Hagen, a NGA number 1 pick, kicked 5 goals in a game.

JUH was taken the year before the AFL changed the goal posts, stopping the Dees taking Mac Andrew as a NGA player and then again the following year, once again changing the goal posts, which might stop us getting another NGA player Finn Emile-Brennan.

Yep some teams get a lot of luck.

Hopefully BBB gets back to his best and we then go with Weid getting the 3rd best backman. Atm its looking like Melk/Weid for that spot.

Well the jury is back in after last night. Another KPF who was only as good as Brown and we win that game  last night. Melsham was never a KPF and never will be. Play Smith even if he has only one game at Casey this time around. time to give JVR a chance.

Also time to replace a few who have been poor for weeks.

ANB, Spargo and Sparrow have been poor for weeks out this week IMO.
if we keep doing the same as the last six weeks we will get the same result.

Kick some of the easy missed chances and we win easily.

New tactics this week, bomb long into the left forward picket( to an out numbered sole tall key forward with all small forwards to stand 20-30 metres away and at all costs, ignore any leading forward, or one who has made space.

Things are deadly quiet at The Manor too Red!

Nearly time to uncork a shiraz.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
