THE COACH

Featured Replies

Bailey has always been a good teaching coach. When he was an assistant it was always what he was noted for.

Do you feel better now that everyone knows how good you are?

Mate I couldn't give a hoot what everyone thinks about me. It wouldn't have meant $h!t had I not referenced to some kind of experience on the topic. You seem to be getting off on winding people up today. You say he has always been a good teaching coach. Good for you. I had always been told that too, however I am beginning to wonder. God forgive me. What a goose.

What Kent said is spot on if you know anything about Head Hunting tactics in Business.

About 30% of the Population are Leaders and 70% followers and that is in the DNA Genetic.

Works in tandem with Body Language.....Poor old Dean looked pretty empty last night.

How about:

"Maybe Bailey isn't as good a teacher as reputed ..... He's been trying to teach for 4 years and it is not working. The same issues keep rearing their ugly heads. Something is wrong."

And I am enjoying today. I love a good torch burning, but not necessarily for the same reasons as most.

That's the thing though isn't it...

We have a bunch of assistant coaches, and no senior coach. The Dons model is one we should be looking at. There's ABSOLUTELY NO REASON why, with the right brains at the top, this list can't turn it around in 2012 in the same way the Dons did.

For 2011 there's gonna be a lot more pain before gain, I'm afraid.

Maybe I should take you on as my media manager then :P

All means the same thing in the end. I prefer to tell things if I can with a link to some experience, otherwise it is just an opinion.

I will tolerate more pain this year, as long as the right moves are made off field.

Gotta Walk the Walk...to earn Respect.

What are your solutions...should we just limp along in true MFC style for the next 16 weeks putting sub standard games of experience into our list of talented kids??

It's what has happened a few times in the past...Never works. 47 years since the last flag, and last night we play like that.

You Bet i hope the Club aint stupid.

Edited by why you little

I've heard the "Bailey is a teaching coach" repeated over the last three and a half years. Who started this?

I have seen no evidence to suggest that this is true. We have recruited what were considered the best kicks in the draft over the last few years, in Maric, Strauss and Morton, and they are now all poor kicks. Grimes has gone backwards in skill. Miller went backwards and is now gone. Bate has gone backwards, Davey has gone backwards. Jones and Moloney are often criticised for their poor skill.

Jamar, Frawley and Garland are probably the only players that have exceeded my minimum expectations of them in the last 3 years.

It was stated a couple of weeks ago by the coaching staff that there is no game plan?

So what the hell is he teaching???

The biggest issues are with out structures at stoppages. We are the only team in the afl who when we have a contest on the 50m ark we have no one to kick to up field as an option or even a get out clause along the boundary line. Why is this the case? Only Dean Bailey knows.....................

very poignant

a week is a very long time in footy as someone has pointed out...but for us, its a great chance to bounce back. we've got 2 and a half wins out of 5. i dont care if it was gold coast brisbane, you play who you've gotta play . add up the points at the end of the season and if we're good enough for the 8 we'll be in it, if not, we're not. rushing into sacking a coach is just what this club doesnt need and the board are a lot smarter than that.

expect big things from brad green starting next week

the reason it will change? cos davey and green have gottten away with it this season beating gold coast and brisbane. now we've had the wake up call required. yes it shouldve happened after hawthorn, but there will be a lot of changes at the selection table this week.

keep dean bailey coach group has almost 80 members and its been running for less than an hour. looks like at this rate he won't be sacked..

Are you into S&M ?

just making a mockery of some of the logics that gets thrown around here such as the drums are beating for dean bailey as 80 members out of 34,000 odd want him sacked...

Hey, if Dean survives, good luck to him..it means he has weathered a lot of Flack, and that things have quickly changed....Fine. You will notice in other threads i have not attacked Dean personally at all. He is a Top Bloke. But to me it looks like his coaching has plateued, and Brad Green is not the man for the captains job.

Being Captain is not easy, & i think Brad would be better just concentrating on his game as an experienced forward.

Do Tell what Aaron Davey & Brad Green will miraculously do this week when the heat is on, that they should have been doing for the Past 5 weeks??

And will this continue into the week after at Etihad against North, who at this very moment will be bloody loving this!!

Sorry mate but i have heard your answers of hope one too many times.

"Fans call on Demons to Sack Bailey"

Regardless of your views or wishes....The Drums are Beating loud now....A week is a long time in Football.

The thing is that footy fans as a whole are generally clueless idiots, and I imagine that those making the decisions realise this. If the club deem that sacking Bailey is the correct course of action, then fine, I'll back them in, but if they did it on the back of a few emotional supporters having a good old moan about one poor loss then we're in worse condition than I thought as a club.

Channel 9 News were quoting Demonology supporters quotes. Surely the Club has to respond and the players have to be feeling the heat. If not there is no hope.

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
