Proud of the boys for the way they fought back!! Shame about the result, but better than a loss at this point in the season.

Luke Tapscott would have to get the rising star nomination for this week

Can't argue with that.. and I would think Bennell came close to best on ground; he had a great game.

Why wasn't Petterd subbed on at the start of the 3rd?

Tapscott, wow. His bump on shaw...

Forgive my ignorance, but why didn't Petterd start. And Tappy, will there be any doubters now, I can't imagine so.

Maybe a few ahead of him

But possibly a Rising-Star for Tappy?

Well a sub is primarily there for injury substitution, so unlikely to ever be subbed before 3/4q time for form reasons

Also if one knew Petterd would play that well maybe he should have been on the bench or in the 18 instead

Whilst he got better as the game got older, Jack Grimes still needs to seriously work on his disposal by foot. Until such time that he does improve in this area, he can't be seen as an elite player of the comp. When he does address this issue, then the sky's the limit. But geez he can butcher the ball at times.

We are lucky to walk away with 2 points today. You simply cannot play 1.5 quarters and expect to win (even though we almost did).

Tricky Ricky dominated when he got on, maybe a little too late

Fair point on Petterd although I do feel he should have started.

Tapscott for a debut game was fantastic. Let's hope he can be consistent this season!

I'll take the draw because we certainly didn't deserve to win after only playing a quarter of decent footy!

Hawks next week will be a massive game and a chance to step up and have a 4 quarter crack.

Frawley likely?

This is a case of stats not telling the whole story. What Bennell did with the ball when he had it, set us up for many good possessions. Moloney has high stats, but really he only provided a lot of value in the last quarter... he and Davey went missing for much of the first half of the game. Anyway, that was just my observation and of course I don't expect everyone to see it the way I did.

Absolutely agree DD. Love the bloke, but he was very costly, especially early on. We can see the potential, just want to see it come to fruition.

Very disappointed in just getting 2 points

4 points was there for the taking all last quarter (heaps of chances)

We must learn to win those games

For those who say we didn't deserve 4 points for 1.5 quarters of football. Rubbish, football is about taking your opportunities and winning (not getting "fair" results). We need to tighten up and learn to win in a flourish

Only good thing was we did'nt start the season with a loss. Lets hope they learn something from this game

What was dissapointing about today was our disposal and decision making, they were terrible, we had a FF in Watts who spoilt more than he attempted to mark cos we would kick to him in 2 on 1 contests or would kick it so bad that we would favour the Sydney players.

I think we stole 2 points today.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
