I watched the first half last night, Bradford threw well, running game was ok, not great but we lost Pead on the opening kick off then a WR in the first so all in all not a great day.

You've got the vikes at home week one. Bradford will carve up our secondary without a problem.

I go for the falcons, what a day yesterday... Albeit a practise match but lose to the texans after there 15 straight loses, then we get thumped by GWS. Could well be another long season in NFL aswell. I won't have any hair left come the end of the year

Welcome to the escape from afl thread JV7. I reckon Atlanta will bounce back a bit this year. Last year was a disaster for you guys but Ryan can play and a fit Julio jones helps.

I'm hanging out for the real stuff to start! I'm heading to the states in November/December, going to see the 49ers at Levi's which will be awesome. But yeah fingers crossed the falcons can put in a half decent season, a fit Julio and roddy will make a difference. I've been loving the Hard Knocks series, gives a good insight especially for a newbie like me.. I only jumped on NFL last season and when the falcons started talking sacking smith & tanking the last few rounds I couldn't help but think it all sounded so familiar lol

Welcome aboard JV7 - your whole division plays the NFC North this season and there's quite a few here who follow the Bears, Packers & Vikings. You're at Lambeau to play my team (Green Bay) in early December ... that could be a vital game if Atlanta can turn things around.

Tough division you're in but there's quite a few tough divisions ... it'll be interesting to see how the Panthers go this year and the Saints with Brees will be tough to displace.

Yeah, we come here for a bit of serenity ... best summed up here

Any one else see Clowneys hit the other day?

He is seriously going to hurt some one.

Yeah I saw it. I can't believe he went unblocked. He is a serious threat.

Cannot wait for the season proper to get underway, though I'm not sure how I rate the Niners going into this season. Tough division and tough schedule, plus a few injuries on defence, I'm not sure we'll make playoffs this year.

If Kap goes down we're absolutely stuffed, too.

It is only pre season but it looks a little tougher for San Fran on defence this year. You are right they need a backup QB. If Kap goes down God help you with Gabbert as your main man.

"If the Pack can earn home-field advantage in the playoffs—meaning they won’t have to play in Seattle—then they’re bound for the Super Bowl"

Well it's all over in the NFC. MMQB has the pack going a long way this year and its hard to disagree. I reckon Macca has read this but didn't want to brag about his Packers. If this was written about the Vikes I would of had it up here in a micro second.

I've checked a few scores and not much else apart from catching up with the topical stories.

Did notice that Harris did most our running and caught a few in our game against Oakland yesterday. Seems we're trying to have 2 strong strings to our bow and with Lacy and Starks ready to go, we might achieve that.

Our weakness remains our defense against a really good offense. Mind you, we won a Super Bowl with a defense that had it's issues :) As usual, a lot will centre around Rodgers.

I do believe our division will tighten up though - any major injury to any of the major players could be the difference though.

Cassel doing ok today from the stats. Is he going to start game 1?

* Bradford's ACL ok - according to sources

If Lacy can run like last year and get a few receptions as well the Pack look good. I'm on your blokes this year. Rodgers who I really try to hate for obvious reasons but I can't he is that good. I'm thinking MVP and NFC championship game this year. Losing B.J Raji for the year hurts though. He is a beast.

Cassel will start. He has moved the ball pretty well and hasn't made many mistakes. Opening drive he went 2/2 for 84 yards and a TD. Bridgewater is the future. He is calm and intelligent. I have no doubt he will get his chance but as of now Cassel is the man. Our rise or fall will depend on our defence. New coach Mike Zimmer can run a solid defence and today we had 5 sacks and 3 interceptions. Two of those picks were in the red zone. Our secondary is still horrible but unlike last year we are going after the QB.

I'm tempted to feel that way about Brady but he's the best I've seen in modern times. Technically, Brady is just immense - he always looks in command and I'm glad he and the Pats are in the other conference.

US sports are like no other with the way the divisions work - you've just gotta win enough games and have a match-up advantage to win your division. I reckon the NFL has the best structure in world sport. Interest is maintained for a whole bunch of reasons.

Some divisions are tougher than others but once the playoffs start, it's a whole new ball game (unless a team has to play in Seattle in January!) The NFC West was scary good last year (42-22) That type of overall record could happen again this year in that division.

Bridgewater had limited time today but threw 2 x TD's from 4/7. A reasonable strike rate ^_^

The tough on baller won his second Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Trophy in a narrow battle with skipper Max Gawn and Alex Neal-Bullen and battled on manfully in the face of a number of injury niggles. TRAINING: Wednesday 13th November 2024

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers braved the rain and headed down to Gosch's paddock to bring you their observations from the second day of Preseason training for the 1st to 4th Year players. DITCHA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I attended some of the training today. Richo spoke to me and said not to believe what is in the media, as we will good this year. Jefferson and Kentfield looked big and strong.  Petty was doing all the training. Adams looked like he was in rehab.  KE

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
