Really ? How is that possible for only 12 minutes of game time to be shown ? I'm confused haha

As we all know the clock keeps ticking at the end of a completed 'inbounds' play (unless there's a time-out) and a team will often use up all their allotted time before snapping the ball (when given that opportunity)

I guess it's feasible but I was still really surprised by the 12 minutes bit though - 4 hours put aside for just 12 minutes of actual game time - that's just wrong :)

Couldn't find the youtube video but have a listen to the reaction of the Seahawks fans in the latest podcast of 'Highly Questionable' (about 15 minutes in) Intolerable cruelty I'd call it but it's hard not to laugh.

Yeh me too.

I mean, I knew it didn't amount to much, but was still surprised.

I remember back in the late 80s or early 90's when Don Lane hosted the ABC's coverage, their match of the week would go for 1 hour... in my memory, it was just play after play, but with the benefit of hindsight and these stats, I guess they showed the entire time the game clock was running.

Was a great way to watch, with another 30 minutes devoted to highlights from all the other games. And being on the ABC, there were no ads!

When you watch the short version on game pass which is just each play it goes for about 45 mins iirc.

I remember seeing something like that stat a couple of years ago. The actual amount of time players play/move in NFL is ridiculously short. The rest of the time is player changes, lining up and getting up out of the pile plus ads/time outs.

So the draft is coming up. Day one of the draft is a lot of fun with all the trades that go on and the pressure GM's go through whilst on the clock. Another year of hyped up QB's but with my very limited knowledge I wouldn't take either. Winston reads like a johnny football book. I can't believe how much hype was going on with Johnny last year. I got sucked in a bit. My boy Teddy had a horrible pro day and 4 years of game tape were thrown out the window as teams wouldn't touch him. Thank god for that. Mariota doesn't run a pro style offense but everyone keeps saying him and Chip Kelly getting back together would be a match made in heaven. They would have to trade up with maybe Washington. Would you want to trade up and place all bets on Mariota? I dunno it hasn't worked out too well in Washington so far. I'm hoping Minnesota can draft a corner back as all year we really only had one. A Receiver is needed but I would rather stock up on defense. I don't think we are going to ever out gun anyone in our division. anyone else know/hope what they want in the draft?

Im hoping the falcons can snare Dante Fowler Jnr or Vic Beasley... Both were impressive at the combine. Yeah I find the NFL draft fascinating how sides can draft up on the night etc, makes it a lot more interesting than the AFL one. I think the bucs will take one of winston or mariota having released Mccown they only have Glennon and his no star...

I didn't mind glennon your right he is no star but I thought he was a better option then mccown. How lucky is mccown? Yeah he shows glimpses of being a ok QB but with the lack of free agent QB's and college QB's mccown gets a deal with Cleveland.

Yeah and look at the deal his got.. 3 years at 14 mil with a chance of 20 mil & 5.25 mil gaurenteed in first year LOL.. Got lucky!

What's everyones thoughts on Hayne ? Not sure how he'll go, it's a fair challenge. Wonder how he'd go as a kick/punt returner aswell ?

His 40 yard dash would've had him in the top ten at the combine. He can catch as well. But can he pass protect and read a blitz on either side of the line? It's what he is going to need to do. If he makes the practice squad I'd say that's s massive success.

That would likely be the final straw. On top of Gore's mooted move to the Eagles & the likely loss of Crabtree to FA, the owner & GM might find themselves strung up from the Golden Gate Bridge

Gore to Indy, appears to have pulled out of Eagles handshake.

Jimmy Graham traded to Seahawks... big one.

What the hell is going on? Graham a Seahawk? Bradford and Foles traded? Chip Kelly will either look like a genius or he will be killed by a lynch mob in Philly. I know he runs his offence differently to others but in two years he has lost Jackson,Mcoy,Maclin and Foles. That's a lot of weapons lost. Seattle just got a lot better. That Super Bowl might've been different if you have graham in the end zone.

Getting Foles is interesting as my very good mate is an Eagles fan so I follow them closely as well.

Revis is back at the jets for a lot of guaranteed coin. I still can't work the Foles bradford trade out. Unless philly are going to make a play at mariota in the draft by trading Bradford. The saints signed graham to a 4 year 40m deal last year. Why do they bother with contracts?

My mate was saying that the he reckons Bradford will be traded on so they get Mariota.

Interesting times.

They don't muck around in the NFL.. What a start to the free agency period

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
