DEBT DEMOLITION

Featured Replies

Are the donations tax deductible?

any other updates? all appreciated of course

I'm going to the Debt Demolition Function tonight and hope to report on what happens.

I will try to provide live updates for Demonlanders and trust that those who can afford it and haven't already done so, will contribute whatever they can.

I'm overseas at the moment and will miss the dinner again this year but have emailed the club and told them of my donation this year and will pay it when I get back. I still have the other money i owe through the Goal thread which I will also pay when I get back.

Would love to be there but I have missed every one because of the time of year they hold it. This year would have been even more special because it will signal the end of our crippling debt.

keep us updated, excitin stuff i reckon

Mingling with the players, watching a DVD of Demon highlights.

Quite a few former players here, RDB. Neita, Stan Alves, Robbie, Jimmy of course and ... Todd Viney!

No sign of young Jack..?

Jimmy speaking now - introduced by Gary Lyon who introduced him as a hell of a footballer but also a great person.

If you're at home you can donate too!!!

Done. :)

Thanks for the updates WJ. Come on Demons !

The Australian Tax Office is conspiring against me.

I really wanted to donate a large portion of my tax return to Debt Demolition, but the bastards won't send me my money!

So instead I've donated the last bits of money hanging around my bank account and now I'm broke until payday. Good times await.

Looking forward to a full report from the night, and to hear that our debt stands at $0.00 tonight :)

I know that it's done in good spirit and perhaps even to encourage others, but one doesn't need to announce their personal donations.

I was more hoping that somebody would offer to finance me for the next 2 weeks :P

I sit near you too. Demonland re-union in the Tridents!

I sit in the MCC, but ill stand up and jump around at the five minute mark of the first quatre, see if you can see me. I expect all other demonland homes to do the same

Phenomenal. PHENOMENAL!!

The great thing about Melbourne is, whilst we may not be as vocal as some, we certainly have money to spend! On this occasion (over the past 2-3 years), we have let our wallets do all the talking.

:)

Fantastic effort.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
