Jaded No More 68,976 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 I just wonder is there a timing issue between being able to elevate and the return of Morton. I'm not sure, but do you think Jordie was promoted for Morton? I would have thought he was promoted for Tapscott, because the club knows he is on a long recovery track. I think Newton was promoted for Morton. Also does it matter who a player is elevated for? Can't we return any one of our promoted rookies back to the rookie list when Morton returns (ie- Newton or Spencer)? I always thought that all you have to do is balance the senior and rookie lists, but it doesn't matter which player comes in and which goes out. Jordie stayed with the club on the premise that he would be the first rookie elevated, so I have no doubt he will remain on our senior list for the rest of the season and will get officially promoted for 2011.
Big Kev 375 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 McKenzie is a rookie listed player who got elevated when Morton was injured (Is that correct?) However if Morton returns then there needs to be someone to go off the main list back to the rookies? We have three elevated rookies (Spencer, Newton and Jordie at the moment and two players on LTI (Gawn and Jurrah)). I would think that would have to be Newton demoted. I cant see Jordie going down. I am with Mikey J on the unnecessary and somewhat typical anonymous swipes at journalism. I believe the players on the LTI list are Gawn, Jurrah & Tapscott. Unless Jamar gets injured I would assume that Jordie would be the last one returned to the rookie list, and by then we maybe able to elevate him as our mid season rookie elevation.
mauriesy 7,443 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 I just wonder is there a timing issue between being able to elevate and the return of Morton. I think Jaded is right. You can elevate a rookie after Round 11. A long-term injury has to be a minimum of 8 weeks for a rookie to get elevated. So if Morton came back, say, in round 9 there'd be a two week gap where one of the elevated rookies would have to go back to the rookie list.
drdrake 3,203 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 It's great to read articles such as this. Jordie knows he has to continue to play well to retain his spot.

Thanks for the Tapscott pick up. I overlooked it I agree on Jordie. Only typical because of how bad they are, and i'm not talking about country fluff pieces i'm talking about major inaccuracies from major and supposedely reputable papers. Part of my job is to brief people on what the media prints inaccurately, or misunderstands. It is truly shocking how bad it is. By and large Journalists are idiots, and idiots with power, but it was unfair to paint this one with the same brush, born out of frustration mostly. Fair enough. If you deal with the media that much I can understand your general frustration
45HG 1,559 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Does the same player who is elevated for a senior player have to return to the rookie list? I.e. if Mckenzie was promoted for Morton and Newton for Jurrah (say), when Morton comes back does Mckenzie have to go back or can we nominate another rookie to go down?

Somewhere in the back of my old mind I can remember on the draft night Chris connelly or someone said, Jordie MeKenzie had volunteered to stay on the rookie list, so we could get another draft pick and he would be promoted in June when we are allowed to elevate one player to the senior list, I think that was the details
GOLF 13 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Thanks for the Tapscott pick up. I overlooked it I agree on Jordie. Fair enough. If you deal with the media that much I can understand your general frustration There is no real urgency in this issue as we have 3 LTI and only 2 Nominated Rookies atm. And after Round 11 we can promote Jordie (damn, another JMc to confuse us) so he is probably safe. And It is hard to see that Newton is goint to stay in the seniors when Watts, Martin and Spencer are all fit. So chill.
Matt Demon 1,597 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Morton is back to full running and is well ahead of time. I saw him doing all sorts of drills with Wona and bell this week at the Junction. Cale was on Nova last week and mentioned he's a few weeks away.
