Just been reported that Robbo will be playing in the Gouburn Valley league.

I geniunely thought he'd give it up and develop a media career based on music.

I imagine so did he, until he saw the sales figures for his record...

Very good point- also he thought he'd get picked up by another AFL team. Not a very good judge our Robbo.

I don't know if any of you guys have heard of Saad Saad, who plays full-forward for Seymour in the GVL, but his aerial ability is on a par with Robbo's. I would pay very good money to head home (originally from Seymour) and watch those two go head-to-head. It'd be like the old days with Van der Haar and Knights.

A quick clip of Saad in action:

I am a goulburn valley boy, and the Shepp swans are starting to develop a very big line up of stars. The yze boys, Robbo andd Saad will mean they are going to be a pretty decent outfit. Not a great club though, drama's all over the place, hopefully they get it right, will be good for the competition.

Playing at a big club like Shepp (either one) ain't that bad. He'll get a nice cheque at the end of each game. It's not completely necessary to live there either. He might only go up for the matches every weekend, which is pretty normal for most big country clubs that recruit ex AFL players. Also, a lot of these clubs have people on the boards who own/run their own businesses in town, and often they can give jobs to these high profile recruits. I doubt Robbo would be in a situation like that, but I'm just trying to put into perspective that it ain't all that bad.

Good to hear him continuing with the footy, I can emphatically say music is not his forte. Especially live music, worst national anthem I've ever heard.
agreed, he would be worth alot of money, he wouldv made nearly 4mill in the last 10seasons, good to see a player give something back to country footy.

If we're going to get stuck in to him for his talents, it's worth mentioning he's not without gifts as a singer (something I know a fair bit about).

His problem is that he wants to be a rock-star first and a musician second. It's all built around being the centre of attention. When he drops the ego and comes to terms with what music is for (NOT self promotion) Aussie audiences might come to the table. eg, find REAL musicians who could use some publicity and give them a leg-up... sing THEIR music, and not "more than a game" from the footy show. Lord knows there's far, FAR more talent wandering the streets of Melbourne and Australia than audiences have room for at the moment.

There's been a few handy singers come out of the AFL. Jacka was pretty good from memory, and Luke Brennan (pick #9ish for the Hawks a few years ago, rookied by the swans) was actually a dead-set superstar as a singer and muso.

Dappa, please note I was not getting into him for anything. However as his football life is ending and re his success in that singing show on 7 early in 2009,I thought he may try to set up another worklife utilizing his voice and charm.
