i heard we are playing in China next year in October

Anyone going to go as im thinking about it,unsure on cost though

My sister and her husband live there, so I'm definitely keen.

I don't think it's that expensive either something like $800 return. That was October last year when I went, not sure what it is now.

Next year in October? What if we win the granny :P:wub:

I would consider it as an entertaining business trip!

"At the risk of being shot down in flames, I have had it on good authority that there is a big announcement from the MFC next week.

At this stage, that's all I've got - I'm sorry. So, because of that, does anyone have any SERIOUS thoughts on what this could be. I have been told it has nothing to do with players, it is considerably higher up than that.

Sorry folks, it's all I can get. I've never been the rumor-starting type, just thought I'd pass on "something" that I have heard. Can't even name the source. Sounds like a bullsh!t thread, but we'll see what happens."

Is this the big announcement? If so, it's a great story. Well done Dees. Our publicity department is working overtime.

This is absolute solid gold.

To match it with the world expo, to be delivering such a huge piece of extra value to Kaspersky, to be the only game on at that time, at the end of a season which (we all know it) is going to have people beginning to look at us as a serious team again.

Solid Gold.

This certainly means that Kaspersky is getting the best value for money sponsorhsip service in the entire AFL. And other sponsors will notice that.

I wonder what we can come up with as a bonus for Hankook?

I'm prepared to go but would I have to each Chinese food every day?

Just noticed on the news that Sylvia was the Melbourne player representative

But in China, They dont call it Chinese food. Its simpaly food

Yep, just food.

And Shanghai you'll have some options because of the long-established internatoinal presence. That might be a bit expensive though.

Come to think of it, Shanghai is supposed to be pretty expensive for China, if you're planning a trip you might want to move around a bit and only be in the city for a day or two.

You'd also think there will be packages coordinated by the club, as the date approaches. Packages with Max Walker hosting, that sort of thing.

Bugger...am going in May....

It's a great marketing opportunity for the club and should help generate a fair bit of cash for the bottom line result.

Does anyone know how much other clubs have made from playing in London etc?

Not sure if can...but as I will be ( apparently...according to the good lady, she who must be obeyed ) in Shanghai around May I'll try and get a look at that stadium and report as to how good /bad for footy..no promises...but will try :)

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
