seeing i played footy in the 18's last year i know some of the kids in the draft, but ben griffiths tall, strong n pretty quick for a big guy would be a good pick up, played with him last year n kicked 11 for us, can hold a key position

tell me what use think and if you have heard of him

Bails mentioned his name in an interveiw a few weeks ago as one of a half dozen videos he's seen. Definately on the radar. If we go mids with picks 1&2 he'd be in the mix for 18, depends who BP rates and who's left.

I'd be interested in your opinion beamer22 as I haven't been able to find much. I've read he's 198 and 99kg's and I'm of the opinion a big body to complement Watt's athleticism would be a good fit in our forward line. Does he like the physical stuff? Can he take a contested grab? how is he below his knees?

yer well he definitely took some great grabs for us last year, hes a very big kid

built like the likes of hurley from essendon. can take physical contest with his body matured, dont no how he is low to the ground but can kick a ball 50+ m

didnt hear bails say that but i would think a very good fit for our future in the forward line

Just found a bit of info on Griffiths and Carlisle on Bigfooty ( ) It was off the Collingwood board.

Jake Carlisle (Calder Cannons): Really like the look of him. Nice size, mobile, smart forward, with good hands and a good set shot for goal. Seems a really solid player. Plays mostly as a full forward. Could well be around at our pick and would be a good fit for our forward line.

Ben Griffiths (Eastern Rangers): Injury affected 198cm KPF. Quick for his size with good mobility, very strong mark, good below his knees, long right foot kick. Could be a Hine type pick thinking of McCarthy and Dawes who fell due to injury issues. Seems to fit our needs.

Ben Griffiths – Coming off injuries last year, he was a late replacement. He smashed the game apart with five goals (three in the first term) and six marks (four contested). His marking and goalkicking technique was a feature and I loved his attack on the ball.

Draft eligibility: 2009 NAB AFL Draft

Really keen to know more about this Griffiths guy. Only going by the little I've read he sounds all right.

Therefore will be around our second pick (18). I hope Collingwood pass on him. I'm warming to him. He'd be one of the targets at pick 18 I reckon. Fingers crossed. Good overhead KP player.

Can he Ruck a little. At that size I'd expect a bit of a loss of agility so he'd need to be like a forward who could ruck a bit. Ben McEvoy like?

actually hes quite flexibile and is pretty quick for his size

regarded as to the ruckwork i think he would be able to do that job, like a stefan martin type

he was expected to be a top 10 pick but had a few injuries(overcome them)kicked 5 gls for eastern couple of weeks ago

i strongly believe that we must take Trengove at #2, thus we must take a tall forward at #18.

Of those tall guys that would be around come our pick:

Panos - if we are lucky

Griffiths - heard we are seriously looking at this bloke

Carlisle - should be around at our pick.

Of the 3, i would have Panos, Griffiths, Carlisle as my order of preference, although a 98kg 198cm forward with presence, good hands, decent speed and good kick is mighty tantalising.

I'd be stoked either way if we were to draft Panos or Griffiths (neither would be around come our #35 pick), as they are more of a traditional, strong FF, which we require. Carlisle is a bit too much like Watts (not that it's a bad thing). I just think a combo of an athletic forward plus a power forward would be most beneficial. With such a combo, plus Jurrah, Aussie returning to play the crumbers role, Davey returning to the HFF (where he is most dangerous) and Sylvia on the other HFF playing as a midfielder also, our forward line is looking very lethal.

Chuck in Scully and Trengove, our midfield is looking good (with Viney still to come) and our Backline looking ever solid and will only continue to grow in confidence as they gell together, with Captain Jack leading the way and the most underrated ruckman in the league, we are starting to develop an extremely exciting team.

yes we are agree on everything u said, and if we can keep all our players on the park for a first, who knows we might be able to snatch a premiership early just like the hawks did. (very exciting future)

dont no much about the other two but benny griffiths will not be no disappointment if we pick him up. doubt he will be there after 20-25

if that's true, i don't think D Grimes will make it to the rookie draft.
