Oops and who would have thought it possible.....

I'd run away from that post as well. Seems a theme running there. :P

There is a big difference between saying that someone should retire and has deficiencies to his game, and calling someone delusional.

But because personal abuse and offensive comments have become so ingrained in your posts, you obviously fail to recognise that.

I know for a fact that Robbo recognises that his chances of going elsewhere are slim, but he is still fit and passionate about the game and wants a crack at a premiership. That is his right and does not make him in the least bit delusional.

Is Wheatley delusional for saying that he'll happily play elsewhere if offered the chance?

I think age is perfect considering their window and how he is likely to perform.

It's not age and window... it's the Cat's list. When they begin their decline, which could be as soon as next year, they will rue picking up players with only a couple of years left. Just because you're in a premiership window doesn't mean you can't keep blooding younger guys. Think Pickett for us. If it fails, it REALLY fails. But hey... for the right price, ie a 6th rounder or something nominal. I have a feeling Thompson wouldn't want to have to coach through a tank like DB has.

I know Paul Roos has said Sydney is going youth, but with Mickey O retiring, Barry Hall gone and a developing forward line, would he suit their structure? Would Paul Roos consider bringing another 'experience head' to the harbour town?

Plausible.

He might, but there again, he's only got a couple of years left to run before he "retires." Would he want to make it harder for his heir by recruiting a good (but not star) forward, thereby taking away a kid's spot on the list, AND probably weakening their next few drafts by having a slightly improved finishing spot on the ladder? I think the Swans are a year away from an MFC-like freefall anyway.

I just HATE the idea of Robbo playing in another Jumper.

If he was traded to another club (besides the Pies) and played in a grand final, I would barrack for that club, and hope he kicks 6 and gets a Norm Smith. I wouldn't do it for many other players, but I'd be thrilled for him. Like many of the great 10 or so of our club in the last decade, he deserves a flag for his effort. Just like Whelan, Neitz, JMac.

Excuse me how is stating an opinion that a person's belief in getting draft is "delusional" personal abuse or offensive? Its neither. This is the second time in this thread you have made a personal attack on me rather than deal with the debate.

Firstly you tried to backhand me for being hypocritical in saying Robbo can put his hand up. Secondly when your recent opinions on Robbo's are not different to mine, I am personally abusive and offensive. For someone who has made a point of claim to some level of inside access to Robbo, I cant see how your quoted comments that he should retire 4 weeks ago is any less abusive or offensive. In fact my quoted section on you Jaded highlights a galling double standard once again.

And as always when cornered in the debate you play the person and cry foul.

Frankly I would feel a sense of betrayal if I played AFL and some "supportive insider" was to use comments that I had not made public "I know for a fact that Robbo recognises that his chances of going elsewhere are slim" for her own self promotion on a public forum. But thats a case of good judgement and we know how we are going there dont we?

BTW, tasteful signature line. Hope you enjoy it. ;)

P.S. Delusional - a false belief or opinion. (Dictionary.com)

It's no supportive insider. Robertson made it pretty clear in his interview with Mark Doran that he knows his chances are slim.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
