Clinton Grybas & Tim Lane as match callers

Garry Lyon special comments

Tiffany Cherri boundary rider

This would be the best line up for sure!

Dwayne Russell & Matt Campbell match callers

Malcolm Blight special comments

Jason McCartney boundary rider

Worlds worst line up!

I thought Clinton Grybas was an absolute sensational commentator, so enthusiastic , clear, precise and had a real energy within his call. True professional. I like your best line up TD. In Clinton's absence I will pick D.Cometti.

Around The Grounds - Frank? Considine, Polly Perkins, Mick Erwin?

Remember when 'Around the Grounds' actually meant going around the grounds? They fired through the scores of the other games in rapid fire succession.

I remember not being able to go to a Melbourne v Fitzroy game in probably about 1983. The only radio coverage of the game was on the racing station. So it was basically score updates inbetween the races from around the country. Talk about frustrating.

And how about the old Footy Record with the 'codes' for the other games scores on the scoreboard? Youd look up and see something like E is 10 goals up on F and youd be asking, 'Who is E and F?"

Ditto on Commetti as a replacement on Grybas, he'd have to be the inventive/entertaining commentator going around!

Tommy Lahiff, Harry Beitzel & Bill Jacobs were absolute gold :)

I remember all that. First thing i did when i got to a game was open the middle of the Record & work out the letters on the scoreboard.

Last Q, You would hear a roar in the crowd as a score got put up on the old scoreboards. Fantastic!

Yes How often in the 70's were melbourne games on 3UZ!!! & i hate Horse racing, so i would almost be ready to kill by half time!!

The Guys who commentated "The Winners" on ABC TV were great. Styled like soccer callers on BBC.

Agreed 'deeflog', I like the ABC commentary as well, especially No Adds!

I also like listening to their post game wrap, Mark McCLure makes some interesting observations.

Agree with that. But there interstate calls with WA and SA commentators is just woeful and one eyed. Worse than when 3GL only did Geelong games.

Tommy Lahiff, Harry Bietzel & Bill Jacobs, now your Talking Radio.

Canberra Television 878 8888 3KZ is Football. Golden Days of one umpire per game. 6 games on a saturday. VFA Sunday

Melbourne always used to get 3UZ with Don Hyde and 3DB where the races interrupted the coverge particularly in the last quarter when they playted the last race from everywhere in Australia!

Never liked Harry Beitzel's arrogance at 3AW. Got his come uppance selling dodgy investment schemes that he did not understand to lotto winners.

Preferred the Captain and Major on 3KZ.

VFA with Phil Gibbs, Craig Kelly when you had Frosty Miller, Eddie Melai and Lyle Hendricksen at Shepley oval. Dandenong were almost Melbourne on a Sunday!

Just saw your earlier post WYL on 3UZ.

Wonderfull Childhood days.

K.B. is the best. Besides, he has a "hot" daughter!

ABC probably has the most accurate and informative radio commentary but if I don't care about the game - ie. Melbourne aren't playing - then Triple M are quite entertaining if they don't get too involved in the ego wars. I can't stand Rex Hunt so 3AW is out.

I might complain about the commentary at times but it's interesting to see how the quality falls away when you're listening to an interstate match, or even a less popular timeslot (ie. Saturday night). Surely there aren't that few decent callers...

Talking of Commentators...QuarterBrain deserves an apology from Dunstall after he threw food all over him on air concerning Croads injury.....

I miss Tommy - "Are you there, Harry?"

"Harry? They've locked me out of the rooms Harry."

Good times.

I listen to ABC for the best footy coverage. They actually commentate what is happening on the field and don't dribble on with crap, you can tell just by listening what is taking place out there

Drew Morphett

Mark Mercure

Stan Alves

Peter Schwab

You forgot Gerard Whateley, the best of the lot and one of the best callers of the game.

Really, have never seen his daughter!! His call of our Richmond game a couple of weeks ago was a total classic!!

He realized "list Management" was a real thing...Before his eyes it unfolded.

Thanks, Robbo, for 12 years of brilliant service to the MFC! One of the most passionate, loyal clubmen going around.

I really hope that he doesn't turn bitter about no longer being required. Surely he would want to see the MFC succeed, and the only way we can to this is to blood youngsters. Love to see him stick around as an ambassador for the club. Think it's definitely time for him to put the cue in the rack and simply reflect on a great career.

We'll miss ya, Robbo!

On SEN this morning they said a press conference was being held today with Robbo and Baily.....enough said

.....and that's 100 posts...only took me 3.5 years

Hopefully he can find a gig somewhere else. As Bruce said in an interview, it'd be interesting to see what he could do with a pre-season under his belt - I'm sure he could still be useful. I don't like his chances of getting picked up though.

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers braved the rain and headed down to Gosch's paddock to bring you their observations from the second day of Preseason training for the 1st to 4th Year players. DITCHA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I attended some of the training today. Richo spoke to me and said not to believe what is in the media, as we will good this year. Jefferson and Kentfield looked big and strong.  Petty was doing all the training. Adams looked like he was in rehab.  KE
