Probably cos of the way he moves.

And pounces.

And runs.

And jumps.

And eats his enemies for breakfast.

I Prefer the JURRAHCANE!!!!!

Did anyone hear Aaoron and Liams interview on 3AW after the game when Aaron said that all the aboriginal boys had nicknames for each other with Wona being something turtle and I can't remember what he said Liam was. Can someone remind me  Liam was so quietly spoken that it was difficult to hear what he said and obviously Aaron was bought in to support Liam. I wasn't impressed by Rex Hunt as he almost talked down in some respects to Liam but it was all taken in good humour. Aaron was very impressive and said that there were many more indigenous players that would make it down here. Since it was Aaron that alerted Barry Prendergast to Liam Jurrah maybe he could become our unofficial recruiter in NT.

hahahaha heard it on TripleM where they mentioned the same things - They joke that Aaron is the father of Aussie (AKA the Tiwi Turtle) and Whelan is the father of Liam (AKA the Walpiri Wizard)

Liam sounds like he hasn't spent much time being media coached (understandably).

Davey said that he and Matty Whelan nicknamed Jurrah "Warlpiri Wizard" and Aussie "Tiwi Turtle"!

Jurrah was interviewed both on MMM and 3AW.

For someone who speaks English well, I can barely bloody understand what Rex Hunt is crapping on about, so poor Jurrah really had no idea.

He did say that he didn't like the cold ocean water, but that he loved being out there with the boys and flying for marks. Mentioned that he and Aussie will be moving in together soon.

Davey said he was just so proud of him (and Aussie) and that he had spoken to Chris Connolly and the club about going to find some more talent up in the Territory because he thinks there is plenty of untapped potential up there that just needs to be mentored properly.

What a remarkable young man Jurrah is. Barely speaks English, so would obviously find it hard to follow game-plan instructions at this stage (even harder if Chris Connolly is talking to him at 100 miles an hour :D), but just such a natural talent that loves the contest. We are incredibly lucky to have ended up with him.

Edit: I love that his favourite player is Jonathan Brown. Mine too Jurrahcane, mine too! :)

Collingwood will spew forever that they got rid of him... (was on their rookie list)

I don't think they ever listed him. Basically they tried to was sneak him into the draft before anyone had the chance to notice him, but they stuffed up the paper-work so that he wasn't elligible for the national draft and we pinched him with the first pick in the PSD. Their loss, I suppose, and I look forward to them looking on for the next decade and lamenting what might have been.

I thought Liam handled the interview very well.

More importantly he played a great game and will bring a lot of excitement for Demons' fans in the years to come.

You ain't seen nothing yet guys. Just wait until Liam has completed a pre-season. at the moment he lacks the fitness of most other players - all you are seeing is raw natural talent. Give him another 5 kilos of muscle and a bigger tank and he'll be unstoppable. The best is yet to come.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
