Demons on Foxtel

Surely the game between Saints and the Demons would grab a bigger audience than that of Freo v Tigers. However Ten in their wisdom have gone with a team who is 15th vs a team that nobody in melbourne is intrested in.

Stupid isn't it! Surely it's just because they want to follow Wallace around and see what happens if they loose.

hey guys this leads me to a question. I don't have foxtel and whenever I go to watch some of the game on the internet via the afl website, it never works. Itsalways lagging, buffering, glitching and freezing. Is there any IT guru's out there that can possibly turn those videos into a simple format like youtube? I still haven't seen the melbourne hawthorn game and I particularly want to see Stefan Martins goal in the last quarter but i cant. so frustrating!

I think its mainly to do with the fact that its a St Kilda home game. Ordinarily it would have been at TD, which would have been on foxtel anyway.

But yeah its [censored]!

These decisions are made before the season begins. Ten anticipated that Richmond would be doing well at this stage of the season, and that Freo would be a middle of the road team. They would not have expected St Kilda to be doing as well as they are.

Overall, though, none of our interstate matches are televised on free to air in Melbourne (that is, the Port in Adelaide, WC in Perth, St Kilda on the Gold Coast, Brisbane in Brisbane and Sydney in Canberra matches). The only match that's not in Melbourne that can be seen on free to air is the Geelong match. So, in essence, we're rarely on free to air, and when we are, it's almost always a match in Melbourne that the majority of our supporters could go to anyway. Which sucks.

thats just what happens to melbourne, pretty annoying, althou i dont mind that it actually is on foxtel cos i do

have it and it'll be live, but isnt this sorta stuff figured out at the start of the season? and wuld they be allowed to

change it if they wanted to?

Buffering ey, sounds like your internet. I go to afl website (gameday) for most games and its fine for me.

i dont know if you have tried.. but BigFooty usually post where the stream is! (if there is a stream)

Either justin.tv or usteam seem to be the most popular

just before the game try this link and usually if a channel is 'live' it will appear..

http://www.justin.tv/search?q=afl

or click on the 'all channels' section on the above link (http://www.justin.tv/search?section=allbroadcasters&q=afl) and you can see which games might be scheduled... if you click that link you can see 'carlton v west coast' is already there.. so once that game is finished the person streaming might change it to the dees game for saturday!

if you havent used the site before it is similar to youtube where you can maximise the video window... some streams are in a higher res which of course means you will need faster internet to run

if that fails.. head to the nearest pub with foxtel!! :)

Pain the arse trying to watch footy at the pub on a Saturday night.

All my locals are really accomodating of footy, Saturday nights are a nightmare everywhere though, its their biggest night of the week so its fair enough. No idea how I am going to watch it, I assumed it was on free-to-air so I'm bummed about that.

Nah, it is a very pedantic site. If it doesn't like your setup, world of pain ensues.

- Ensure you have the very latest Flash installed.

- IE seems to have better default viewing success than Firefox.

- There are step-by step solutions on google, will try and find.

- Previous Demonland threads are about on this. Options within may help too.

Edit: bigpond video

Edit: Have a look at 1. What PC/Internet set-up do I need to use BigPond Video? for easy links to updates.

(If you haven't been there already)

Also, I believe video quality is fixed at 1863kbps, so yeah if you don't have adsl2 then buffering will be required.

Let it play 1 second, pause, make a coffee, play.

That sucks.....looks like foxtel will be cranked up again on Saturday with a few beverages.

Freak, here's some choices: -

Sign up for Foxtel. They've got a deal on IQ going right now, incl. free installation. Pay around $70-80 a month after that and watch all the replays you want.

Or, go to your nearest local.

Or better check out the locals who have got it on, then determine which has the biggest screen with the smallest crowd. :D

Or, fly to the Gold Coast. :P

Or, spend a fortune on installations on upgrades for your computer/hard drive.

Your choice.

PS. I thought from some of your posts you'd seen the Melb v Haw game...

Well nah. I think considering i posted a Casey Scorpions match review from the sunday game in BALLARAT that you would have assumed that I didnt see the game.

Thanks everyone else for the links and options. cheers guys

Thanks everyone else for the links and options. cheers guys

Try this: -

I am not sure if these will work, can only really find out about half an hour before the game, but I will post them now because unfortunatley I will not have internet access this weekend.

http://www.justin.tv/directory/sports

This often has footy streamed live, but there is no gaurantee that the Dees game will be on, just have to look and hope for a bit of luck.

http://www.atdhe.net/

This is the link that I posted last week, again you have to search for the game from this page and again you need to say a little prayer that it will be there.

www.ustream.tv/channel.footy-net

This is a really good link, but you may need a password to access it, however you can request to view the channel.

- From Shifu Demon; O'logy

Hi, can someone let me know when they have found a link/site where they can watch the game. NO FOXTEL

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
