6 top 20 picks in the last 2 drafts and only one has played this year (Morton). So plenty of gas still in the tank!!

Not so sure if this thread will have enough gas in the tank.

Yes Morton (4) played. Strauss (19). Blease (17). Watts (1). Grimes (14). So who is the other one that makes up the 6 in the top 20 in the last two drafts again?

maric if you move him from 21 to 20.

Maric P21, Oh, <_<

Can you do that?.. ;)

I too hold high hopes for all those players... but i think by now we would have learnt that being a top20 pick doesn't mean you'll be a good player, let alone a great player.

Dunn- pick 14- can't even make the best 22 in the youngest and arguably worst team in the competition

Bate- pick15ish- looks great sometimes... ussually plays ordinary

Jones- pick14- good trier but lacks polish to be considered a great player. Sneaks into our best 22 at the moment

Sylvia- pick 3- hardly makes our team it seems atm

You left out Bell and Nick Smith. And I won't mention Molan.

Yes that was the past and that doesn't mean the same for the future.

this last draft especially has higher expectations, and I think we have more highly skilled players coming through.

Only time will tell but already Grimes looks the goods and Maric shows promise.

Hard to comment yet on the most recent draft picks though.

I think this era shows more excitement though.

Brendon Goddard took a No of years, with Saints supporters crying for his sacking, before showing his worth.

#18 St Kilda Saints

Age: 23yr 10mth Games: 115 Born: May 20, 1985

Height: 189cm Weight: 91kg Position: Defender

Last Drafted: Round 1, Pick #1 2002 National Draft

Thought his performance last week was a significant improvement from last year.

I'd say he more than 'sneaks in'.

I agree BBP. His was one of the better performances last week. He generally took the first option and backed himself.

I agree as well... Jones last week showed to me the player he can become. A good player who tackles hard and is under every pack.

To me, Jones (like Mclean,Moloney,Valenti,McDonald) would all be awesome players if they were the 4th,5th and 6th best midfielders.

Add Bartel, Ablett and Selwood to our midfield and i guerantee that guyz like Jones, Mclean and Moloney would be held in VERY high regard, considered up there with the likes of Rooke, Enright and Corey.

IMO that is our problem atm. We need to add ATLEAST 2 star midfielders to our team midfield if we ever want a premiership chance.

- Could Morton be one? Strauss or Blease?

- Scully the other?

- who misses Scotty Thompson :(

This should be targeted with our first pick next season.

Ideal would be if pick 1 and 2- picking up the best KP forward and the best midfielder.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
