Liam Jurrah

Adam Goodes with ostrich legs

I find that a little surprising.

While if Jurrah becomes a player of Goodes' ilk I'll be over the moon, but Goodes doesn't seem to be a player who does freakish things with the ball, something many often comment on with Jurrah.

He is a mix between Brent Grgic, Donald Cockatoo Collins and Simon Godfrey.

Exciting times.

Robbo, on SEN this morning when asked about Liam said something like "He's got great speed, go-go gadget arms and a terrific leap. I don't mean to put any pressure on the kid but he'll be the next Buddy Franklin and the saviour of our club"

no no robbo, that would not put any pressure on the kid we are supposed to be sheltering from getting freaked out and running away haha

aaahh I only heard a part of that snippet from Robbo, I thought he was reffering to Watts. Didn't he then say he is only 18.. blah blah blah.. saviour of the club Mousey or did I miss the boat completely?

Chinese whispers.

If I recall correctly Robertson said that Jurrah reminds him of Buddy and that he really hopes he stays at the MFC. He said he was 6'3", can run, jump, and can take a big mark, but he then tried to play the comparison down. It was the interviewers who leapt on it and in a jocular fashion used the term "Saviour", not Robertson.

Either way, it was good to hear his enthusiasm.

yeah sorry guys i didnt hear the snippet but just saw someone post it on ology and thought it was post worthy.

Im hoping Jurrah makes his debut in the next month or so.

I have seen Jurrah running around Jells Park; he is deceptively tall, always seems to be slightlly hunched over, and joeboy is right on the mark with the crack about ostrich legs.

Robbo was the one joking around. He said he didn't want to put any pressure on the kid, but he reminds him of Lance Franklin.

Then he joked that he will be the saviour of the club.

It was all in jest.

Truthful, crystalball-like foretelling of the future, jest?

I'm pretty sure Bailey said he was 191cm.

Coaches and players are often not so hot on this sort of stuff. Bell and McKenzie are both popularly-billed at 186cm.

They stand each side of Jurrah in the team photo. You be the judge. He's taller than both but not by much, I'd guess

a maximum of 3 cm, so he's 189 cm at best.

So it's 189cm on a bad hair day. Settled.

edit: - Newton's beady eyes freak me out. Looks like a puppet.

I heard that on SEN this morning. Those statements make this bleak year liveable. Keep Training & learning Master Jarrah. I hope to see your Potential in front of a Packed MCG in Late September in the not to distant Future.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
