In the pic weres hes handballing he looks a little bit like mark murphy in apearence lol and the guy in the back ground looks a bit like brent guerra. :D

Any ways with a leap like that and good fitness maybe he could take a role kind of like dale thomas, taking the od big mark and playing on the wing with such great fitness and up forward.

Good point, I really shouldn't have made those assumptions...

Of course I'm grateful for the photos, but M2W would be kidding himself if he though, and I don't believe he is, that posters should then go and make proclamations about his footballing ability based on those two photos.

I hope he took the mark by the way

I detect a sense of negativity from u about this boy. Based on a little bit of info and some knowledge of his character I believe that he will surpass a couple of higher picks in achievement in his career.

I don't really make these sorts of calls, but I really think this kid will be an inspired pick up.

I'm not negative at all, indeed a little bemused at being labelled as such as it possibly the least accurate description of myself.

But back on topic. I honestly don't make judgements on players I haven't seen play.

I've never seen Bail play and as such will cast no aspersions on his ability. I will be very interested to see how he goes, as I'm intrigued at us selecting such young players and then one player at the age of 20.

It'll be exciting to see a recruit who can hopefully demand a spot from the opening round, but again I don't know what the boy can do. Hence why I said I'll be interested to watch this one

You agree and yet I'm being negative? Very odd...

It did sound a smidgeon negative mate. You were probably just countering the overly optimistic hypothesis about the photos with the obvious reverse, but still...

In that case I apologise, I should have left it at don't read too much into pictures

:P haha forget it mate, i've got confidence in your opinions enough to know you won't make judgements based on a photo.

... others on this forum though, I worry, would take what you said & run a mile.

cheers, my only concern was that u seemed to have a go at m2w who posted the photos only with the caption "pics of bail". If that wasn't your intention then cheers for clearing it up.

I reckon u are one of those blokes who doesn't want to set yourself up for disappointment. me i am just excited to see the MFC with a clear long term plan for the future both on and off the field.

I think its pretty clear from those pics he will be in the top 10 possesion getters in the league next year and get 10 plus brownlow votes. If we had three photos I could tell you more.

Yeah, let that be a lesson to everyone, don't post photos of players.

Gotta love those blokes who contribute nothing and just sit back and ridicule people who provide images and info.

FWIW I have no idea why you're being labelled, as I didn't interpret what you said to "negative" at all.

It may have stemmed from this quote: -

I think it's more that you can make a picture tell a thousand words.

He may have dropped that mark, and I can't figure what's impressive in that second photo.

Will be interested to watch this one

Fwiw I didn't think it was that negative either. It's 45h's opinion anyway.

FFS its just two photo's of one of our new recruits in Rohan Bail. He looks good in both photo's. Leave it at that.

Lol, it's not an opinion, it's me saying that no one should say things like these photos make him look "impressive," revealing that he is fit and can take a mark, perhaps allowing him to play in the forwardline or on a wing.

"He may have dropped it" is not an opinion on his footballing ability.

It's all been quite absurd really

If you are 'saying' that no one should say things like the photo's themselves are impressive, etc then that IS your opinion IMO

You're right in that it's all been absurd.

Gee, Newton looks impressive in going for that mark, that you posted there.

P.S. Was there something wrong IYO from the below post that was posted by me this morning?

Sometimes a picture can tell a thousand words, these photos look impressive from a demon fan point of view. Thanks for the pics M2W. He can leap and take a mark, and Bail looks to be very fit (ie an endurance type player). But thats about it. Nevertheless hopefully he is a 'real find' for the club.

This has gone on long enough fellas. Let's get back on topic so we can avoid the lock and key.

I can't believe it went on this long. Must be a slow week for us all. Anyway I didn't mean to suggest you were a negative poster 45. As you say the truth is quite the opposite.

haha absolutely moving on!

How many of the draftees do we think will play pre season?

I'd be very happy if Bail can slot in and find a position, I assume he'd have the body to do so..

It's hard to tell for sure from those pics, but he looks like he has a body ready for AFL footy. I imagine that so long as he's fit he's a monty for a run in the NAB cup. I'm looking forward to seeing how he goes.

I assume you might be right. ;)

Seriously though, I think perhaps all might get a game throughout NAB Cup/NAB Challenge matches. If we 'somehow' go the distance in the NAB Cup, maybe 4 out of the 6 new draftees. (Not including the PSD pick).

Good call - clearly the boy knows how to shepherd well although I'm a little worried about the right to left swing his non-preffered kicks take.

Photo #2 clearly shows Bail is prepared to handball to people who aren't even there! Poser! Delist him already! :D

Edit: To be clear, the above is me having a laugh. Nothing more, nothing less.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
