Melbourne vs Richmond

Well if Bailey can't be blamed, then I blame, Mahoney, Wellman, Williams, Bodan, the training staff and the bootstudder.

Bailey's new catchcry: Bugger the result, just win the interchanges!

P.S. I find it quite funny how people on these boards resort to name calling and derogatory remarks at the drop of a hat. At least there's some passion amongst the supporters, passion for in-fighting that is.

That after you call for Bailey's head under the mindless assertion that he's a hack. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

I'm just telling it how it is mate.

Great post.

Of course, the players can't be blamed for the lack of effort

He's had a whole preseason and half a regular season to prove me otherwise, it wasn't based on 30 minutes of football. Let's just agree to disagree and we'll see how successful Bailey ends up being at the end of his career. God knows, we're going to get 3 seasons worth of this crap out of him because we can't pay out a contract.

I'll tell you now he's shaping up as the new Wayne Brittain. Never trust a career coach. Coaches tend to do better if they can rely on personal examples to inspire a team. Obviously a large part of the reason Blight, Matthews, Worsfold, Roos, Thompson have been so successful. What did Bailey ever do as a player, he was the Simon Godfrey of Essendon in the late 80's ffs.

Edit. Sorry 45 hotgod, I meant to quote diablo

You want to sack a new coach half way through his first year, with a developing list.

Be realistic.

If we sack him we get a new coach, new game plan that takes weeks for the boys to get used to. Not to mention that the media [censored] storm that would take place would kill our club off.

Leave the slimball alone and forget about arguing about sacking the coach because it ain't gonna happen

Well he just kicked our first goal in a looong time

At least the tiges are having fun. And they don't even have to pay for 22 blokes to turn up and help them with their drills.

We've improved marginally: goal to Davey now it's only 25 points. Starting to move it better, but not exactly convincing.

Hey leucopogon, does this make Bailey a genius? Give him a 10-year deal!

richo just got his 5th. now we have to pay out that 10 year contract.

What a couple of goals? I'll never be truly happy with the Dees until the inconsistency is eradicated once and for all.

I'm not sure it was the best we will see. But getting that far up richo was surely impressive

Richo's a gun, he proves to be the difference so be it. But otherwise, we have a list that can stick it with Richmond, and will be better, and with good leadership i think we can beat them. The players stood up that quarter, played their own type of footy, and that's what happens. Win or lose, they must do it his quarter

Well there you go. No point making drastic assertions based on whimsical emotions now is there?

Well to be optimistic, Richmond kicked 8 of their 13 goals in 10 minutes, so for the rest of the game they haven't been that good. If we continue like we did in the 3rd then we must be in with a chance

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
