Steyn is a very good bowler. And Clarke's innings is a very important one for the team and it was good to see him score an innings like that (not out, mind you) when the team requires one to stand up.

The Australian bowlers will have some work to do if we're to win this Test.

Agree. i have only heard the days wrap on a couple of radio stations. The pitch seemed lively early. Great knock by Pup. I also thought of the Hughes knock against the Windies.

If the planets line then Mitch Johnson could bowl hand grenades but we do know that he could easily bomb. Fascinating

My memory is a little cloudy right now, but he has bowled well there in the past, has he not ?

He had an outstanding series last time in South Africa with some truly brutal spells of bowling that were the equal of Steyn on occassions. Also hit a century on the tour. Has largely disappointed since.

For those without foxtel the Test is on ABC Grandstand radio .

What a great innings by Clarke.

Not only did he score 150, but he did it quickly too.

Great knock by Clarke. Listening to the commentary that 284 is not a bad position given the toss.

Johnson 2 overs for 14......tick tick bomb! Early days but I hope he finds his mojo in his next spell.

Gee that's a bonus wicket - Amla out - beauty !

If we can restrict them to 300 - 320 we're right in this .

2 reviews in 5 balls both outs for Watson. Kallis out is huge.

Watto !! How good is this ? 4 fa 74 !

Watto !! How good is this ? 4 fa 74 !

6/77 ! Watson on fire and now Harris joins in for an important lbw on De Villiers out for just 8 runs. What looked worrying at lunch with the wicket, good bowling is just what the doctor ordered for Australia !

We're well on top now - The Aussies look focused and Watson is bowling really well .

Everything is going our way - enjoying this !

What did I say ? 300 - 320 ! What was I thinking ?

8 - 83

How good is this!!

It's been amazing to watch this unfold - Aussies look a different team to last summer's ashes series .

Watson bowling stump to stump and consistently, has paid dividends. MJ could do well to take a leaf out of Watson's book.

96 and out. Sth Africa's second lowest score since re-admission.

Aussies lead on first innings by 188 . Inside an hour Sth Africa lost 9 wickets !

My worst nightmare.

We had visitors tonight - the type who hang around, well and truly overstay their welcome and aren't the least bit interested in the cricket.

Arrived just after Clark was last man out in Australia's first innings and left when the second dig was about to start.

I didn't even tape the SA innings.

Damn.

This would be a handy time for Phil Hughes to dig in at the crease today.

edit: As I hit the post button, they dropped him in slips. I think I'll stop mozzing him now !

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
