  1. Watching the game tonight anyone else think the Hawks have done well with the umpiring? Given they are playing interstate in the so called cauldron Port is not getting any freebies and the Hawks are getting the 50 50's nearly every time!
  2. Should we shut this thread down as no one will pay this tax, err sorry levy as the fat cats have been given ample warning to rearrange their tax arrangements before it becomes law.
  3. Short answer is yes he would be open to all clubs in the draft.
  4. Hopefully he would keep things quiet but let us know so we pick him up late in the draft. But to be realistic as soon as he nominated for a draft, some clubs would be all over him. But good luck to him, what a lost talent to football. God it gives me the grips losing Mitch. I can remember arguing a case in 2011 after he had played 10 games for us and kicked 29 odd goals that he was as good as Buddy who the AFL were going gaga over that year. He was taller, a better pack mark, as good below his knees and a better kick for goals, and he spent time in the ruck as well. But that argument died when he did his foot! Typical MFC outcome really.
  5. Are all the player managers saying hold off till we see what happens with Chip and thus what is available in the salary cap? It could be nothing more than that.
  6. Autocol He can't write either, the first few sentences in that quote are poorly constructed. It is the sort of sloppy syntax up with which I will not put!
  7. P-man love your passion but you are right we are amongst the dumbest voting nations on earth. There is a reason for that, Rupert Murdoch dominates the papers and we have the likes of Singo owning a number of radio stations that employ the likes of the abominable Alan Jones. In short we live among the worlds most concentrated media ownership. Fat cats with agendas for the rich. Disengaged voters unfortunately listen to the likes of Andrew Dolt, read the Hun or the Oz and believe their best interests lie with their interests.
  8. In a very dark period Dunn was performing last year I thought and he has got better this year for sure. God we didn't have much going last year to pick out Dunn as the problem.
  9. The Coalition won't get voted out this side of the next election and probably not then but it would gladden my heart to see them panic and give the bully boy Tony the heave ho. Couldn't happen to a more deserving " you know what I mean". What about Christopher Pyne for PM! anyone?
  10. After reading that diatribe in the Age, (if it is true of course) attributed to Welsh, I would say he is reading from a different song sheet and won't be around next season. Unless there is some good cop bad cop thing going on but I doubt it. I am sure Roos has moved on from rubbishing players in general. Nothing constructive there at all just a whinge about some AFL whingers. .
  11. Song Sorry I am still here. Not going anywhere soon. Just asking about the the Toumps upside. I qualified my question by saying it is early days but a I am asking for people to inform me where they think he will be able to fulfil the expectations of a number 4. For the record I think he will be a good player but Will he be more? That was my question.
  12. I think you have to win the cup to get that gong. There is no science to it.
  13. Still looking for the Toumps weapons. Early days I know but he is not big, not fast, not sure of his tank and his delivery is just OK. Just asking, wishing for enlightenment, that is all.
  14. Probably Gawn for a week or so, knowing our luck. Hope Chip will be up and about.
  15. If Mitch was still playing we would be 5 wins I reckon.
  16. Probably just a tad more I suspect. And me as well.
  17. My main point was I thought he would be able to slip both tackles but he kept running in a straight line and got caught.
  18. I thought Salem struggled a bit in his first full game today. Eight possessions, He got caught twice in tackles when I thought he would sense the player coming behind him. Got pinged on the second one which was appalling umpiring but I expected him to slip that tackle. Anyway early days, probably struggling for fitness levels at this stage.
  19. Axis ( or is it sponge) Bob I stand corrected, but he has a reputed lethal boot which we have seen little of. I hope your are right and he turns it around but I just don't see the potential this season. He looked run of the mill on Saturday but let's keep our fingers crossed.
  20. I looked up my work diary today, 25 October last year we had Tommy in to give us a talk about men's health, well being and team motivation. He was fantastic to listen too for all us footy tragics, but to hear about his relentless agenda of visits to schools, prisons and country footy clubs was mind boggling. How many people, kids did he touch I wonder? He met us at lunchtime in Melbourne but was then due for a talk in Colac later that day, then back home by the evening. Tommy was a one man band, he drove himself everywhere yet somehow kept up the relentless fitness regime of a run, a swim and what was it 700 sit up, push ups and so on? In our short meeting my impressions were that he was such a life force filling the room and that he was indestructible surely. A larger than life figure whose relentless mission in life was to motivate others to achieve their potential. Tommy seems to have been one of those great human beings who just wanted to help others with no ulterior motives. In this day and age he was unique.
  21. Yes I got that a bit wrong. By winners I should have said non losers! That is there are those who have avoided the knife, such as the fuel excise for miners, really that is a joke, I don't mind farmers getting fuel subsidies, but the miners can pay their way and I suppose the other group is over 60 superannuates paying zero tax on their income. That is just not sustainable and this was an opportunity to deal with Peter Costello's fiscal time bomb. If we have a crisis this would be one of your first targets because the % of retired people not paying any tax will sky rocket in coming years. As for the budget fallout well there is the cheer squad at News, Andrew Bolt and the shock jocks to limit the damage in the short term and there will be sweeteners in the next budget. Your average swinging voter has a short memory I think. At least that is Tony's plan.
  22. Has anyone worked out the reason for the cheers yet?
  23. Not sure about the AFL physique? Strauss is mostly another MFC vanilla recruit. Apart from a so called lethal left foot I am not sure what is weapons are. He was getting there until the horrible leg break so I have given him time but I just don't see where he can make a difference. Dunn has him covered for experience and smarts off half back, then there is Grimes, Garland and co, so I am not sure where he would fit now.
  24. I seem to remember that we were sailing very close to the wind around the same time!! Are we definitely in the clear?
