  1. And Borewood as well! No one shall be spared!
  2. BBO on the contrary, in another thread I congratulated Sir WYL on his knighthood and stressed that we needed to stick together because at the time our beloved Prime Minister Tony Abbott, defender of the Aristocracy and the natural order, was under siege from his own party. Should he be toppled I truly feared that we faced the rule of the Mob! Tony survived but still I believe that without him we face a real and present threat to the natural order of things. Should the Mob rise up we all face ruin from Fitzroy to Romsey.
  3. Biff I remember Mick Kelty setting them up after one of the fathers had alerted the AFP of what his son was up to, imploring AFP to stop them leaving the country. Instead Kelty informed the Indonesians and they were then cactus. But I never understood why, we could have picked them up on their return quite easily. Not sure about where Johnny came into it. However I must disagree on the death penalty, it just doesn't work at any level. It is not consistently applied, it is sometimes found in retrospect That the person was innocent and a lot of executions are politically driven by some despot wanting to demonstrate his power. And it is not cheap, millions are usually spent in the lead up inquiries and appeals and on the act itself. And what is achieved in the end?
  4. DF Forget the bananas, about 10 years ago I had some fabulous scallops from the Fisherman's CoOp in Carnarvon. They are all exported to Japan unless you show up to the factory outlet. Drove on to Coral Bay and cooked up a storm. Never had better since, although the surroundings may have influenced my thinking.
  5. TDI is it my imagination or has the rehab/injury group grown exponentially in the last few weeks? Does it now resemble our normal scene of carnage that we are used to every preseason since 2007?
  6. TDI we need you to visit the Hawks in training to work out what they are doing right. You know heading for three in a row and hardly an injury amongst the list, ten or so players with 200 plus games but still playing their best footy with no physical impediments. What is their secret?
  7. From 4 PM tomorrow I will have fingers and legs crossed, hoping for the best, no injuries and that we finally have a win!
  8. And no one has mentioned Todd Viney beating Boom Boom Boris Becker in an under age tennis tournament! Todd must have been a late starter as well. If Gary's son has been playing rugby, he should pick up AFL quickly given his athletism and the gene pool. But only if he really wants it.
  9. Needa Re - Jesse Hogan I was listening to SEN this morning and heard Andy Maher throw in a mischievous question to Russell Robertson, supposedly supplied off the SMS by a Dees supporter: Robbo have you heard the rumour that Freo are all over Hogan and have offered a $1 million a year for 7 years? Robbo genuinely sounded like it was news to him. After the Boyd contract nothing is impossible I suppose but I thought Hogan had extended his contract a year to compensate for last year's problems.
  10. Intra Club after today? Call it off that would be far too dangerous at this stage. And I am not sure on the NAB either, that could be dangerous as well. And as for round 1 forget it I say too much can go wrong.
  11. The curse is still with us!!
  12. Yes I realised that was a poor usage of words but did not want to erouse Jazza anymore than normal so did not correct myself. Jazza spends most of his time milking cows, following the Dees as well? Forget the other strange behaviour,
  13. Is it just we are so glad to be not playing at our graveyard out at West Lakes/ AMMI whatever that hellhole of a ground was called outside Adelaide. That ground buried many of our finals campaigns under ND, either in actual finals games or because we lost games there in the home and away we should have won and so as usual ended up finishing 7 or 8th.
  14. 9/11 this morning?
  15. I never liked Tony but assumed he would be competent enough to run the government for a couple of terms with the help of Uncle Rupert and the Conservative bloc. But really after demanding near perfection on every issue from Julia and Kevin he is turning out to be a near total incompetent. Since his survival last week and his declaration of good government starts today, we have had the submarine debacle, the personal attack on the Human Rights Commissioner and now he has knifed Ruddick, a 40 year party veteran! There is a bad trend of Tony shooting the messenger and always spoiling for a fight, no capacity to lead or bring parties together to achieve outcomes. He can't manage business and he can only lead if there is an external enemy at the gates. As for a coherent vision for Australia forget it. All we have is a mishmash of an agenda from the Murdoch Press, the BCA and the IPA that avoids hitting the rich and powerful and anyone who has donated to the cause. All that is left for poor Joe is to kick the defenceless poor in the teeth to find savings.
  16. Gee you were a bit stiff Jazza, I was down at Anglesea last night and it rained steadily from about 6 p.m to 6 a.m with some heavy downpours for a good hour early morning. The rain must have been coming in from the east rather than the south west.
  17. Is this the Brian Cook that could soon be CEO or coach from that other thread?
  18. Tommy Rotcliff and Wines along with Jones, Tyson and Viney, hmmm what could have been and one could add Sloan. That is some mid field lost in our missed opportunities
  19. Lighten up HT don't you remember your time in Graphic Arts at Swinney? A few joints going down every time I passed by on my way to the Governor Hotham for a gut full of cheap beer on a Friday!
  20. HT we must have crossed paths at some stage. Apart from hanging around the Kingston back then ( and I still do at times) I was studying at Swinburne Institute of Tech in the early 70's as well. I was studying engineering so was doing up to 26 hours a week of class time with an all male cohort so we were envious of you graphic arty types hanging around the Swinburne Caf, smoking the odd joint with a bevy of good looking women, seeking creative inspiration no doubt. I had come from all male schools so it was all too much for me, women everywhere, but I am stuck doing lectures with a hundred male engineers. I never had much money to buy anything much but a bucket of chips and a cup of tea but it was always a good perve for the desperate to see who was there from graphic arts! I remember there was a Scandinavian type MILF who worked the Caf tables, collecting the cups and plates and wiping the tables. She always wore a short skirt and different coloured knickers everyday that we all checked out while she was working. But you were surrounded by beauties in the arts school so would not have noticed our desperation.
  21. Hey Nutbean how did you go at the Sting and Paul S concert last night? I liked it. It was an interesting start because I was wondering who the bearded, dark haired bloke was playing guitar with Paul Simon. Then he started singing and I realised, hold on that is Sting! I should point out I am always way up in the cheap seats. Anyway the musicians from both bands were incredible as you would expect, Paul was great but I really liked Sting he can still belt out a hit big time. His voice is still very strong but not sure about the new hipster look, although he could pull a job in a Fitzroy cafe tomorrow no worries and most would not recognise him. Now I did see security escorting out a bloke towards the end, I hope that wasn't you NT maybe you had been abusing the big plonker?
  22. I am off to see Sting and Paul Simon tomorrow night! The reviews have been good so let's see how it goes. Mainly a Police fan myself but Paul S has had some great songs over the years as well.
  23. Why? Just the past 10 years of self destruction by successive administrations who have had a great time paying themselves overs big time and delivering jack Shyte outcomes. Other than that I don't know why I might be worried.
  24. Any tips? Just keep it quiet between you and me. we don't want others jumping in early. I am struggling these days myself. Blue chip, high yield but they go up and then they go down. It's a roller coaster.
  25. Cook played 4 games for us I believe, so he may want to come back but I see him fairly regularly down the Surf Coast on weekends, including outside footy season so it would have to be a great offer to get him to change his life style and he is nearing retirement age if he wants to. (I went to school with him) He would be a great get but myself I would be sticking with PJ, after all CEOs don't kick the goals. You need a very competent administrator who recognises management talent and demands hard work from those around him for the good of the club. He is not necessarily some premiership guru. Geelong's success was one part great admin, one part father son and a few parts great/ fortunate drafting.
