  1. That, as ludicrious as it reads, is a very simple but accurate assessment. Certainly for the back half of the year anyway. Our defense needs shoring up and may have helped us in certain games this year.
  2. Wouldn't have thought that is a priority with Garlett, Kennedy, Neal-Bullen, Kennedy-Harris on the list and all under 26 yrs old. I completely agree re the first two. A back up ruckman is number one IMO given that Spencer is merely a fill-in. I will probably get shut down, but Ivan Maric would be an excellent discard for two-three years to help Gawn chop-out. Or alternatively, we need to find a forward/ruck like Tippett or Rory Lobb (or like Josh Jenkins - but not at his over inflated price). Key back is a huge hole on the list - Hurley would be the biggest fish our club has ever landed and would help us drive up the ladder. I have faith that Sam Frost can become a very good KPB: he showed enough on Queens Birthday (despite some brain fade decision making) that he can become better than Tom McDonald. Oscar is still far too raw and green to make a judgement call on, but he's taller than his brother and who knows with a bit of size (he also has better disposal).
  3. I've gone through replay of end of game and cannot find Hogan talking to any Brisbane player.
  4. Laughable that someone on here was saying that it would be announced "today" (nearly 3 weeks on....here we are.)
  5. Harsh on Oscar, but Tom has nearly played 100 AFL games...
  6. Try and find one that CAN dispose well and CAN defend
  7. My priority is still to extend Hogan. If we don't extend him this year, we may not get suitable compensation for him end of next year (despite it still being trade)
  8. Correct. Tom is a great guy and I am not for one minute wanting to hang him out: let's face it, none of us are playing league footy; however, if our defence is going to improve then Tom's form needs to as well and he needs to learn to 'defend' in a way of hitting packs more than running off opponents and being offensive: I think a big problem is that he hasn't had Dunn taking number 1 forward which has helped in recent years. Having said that, the money he is holding out for is too much for someone that has his limitations. I use Dale Morris as an example all the time - someone who has made a career out of having average disposal but learnt to "defend" and is a seriously good player.
  9. Our biggest issue is that McDonald hasn't come on as the rebound/intercept defender we so desperately need. He rarely crashes or splits packs and is poor by foot (yes i'll have DL peolpe insert his efficiency, but this does not exclude the cheapy sideway kicks defenders often do and should ALWAYS hit).
  10. Still yet to sign....(despite people saying it would be announced two weeks ago). If letting him go meant we could sign-up a better KPD, i'd be happy with that. Try and find one late in draft, and keep Frost down there permanently.
  11. name and shame if you're going to do that. they technically have a 7 day break so it's up to them how they spend their saturday nights
  12. Finally! Someone else who rightly realises that he isn't a good defender!...... Your sole job is to DEFEND. He regularly tries to mark the ball in the back 50 - all well and good if you mark it every time, but he doesn't. He NEVER splits packs or thumps the ball out of bounds. and he USUALLY butchers the ball by foot - efficiency starts are misleading as the cheap sideways or switch kick are easy to uncontested men or "space" This guy is not worth 400k a year, and if he doesn't sign, he has to be traded - a huge win for the club. Oscar McDonald is worse, but he's only played a handful of games so who knows if he becomes anything - but last week against the Bears i had my heart in my mouth each time a defender named McDonald went near it.
  13. Dunn and Newton carry-over emergencies for tomorrow? Given Grimes played. Strange we will not have a second ruck for Gawn tomorrow...we've lost a few games at the selection table this year - let's hope tomorrow isn't another one
  14. No; they can't. But they sure as hell can tell when a player is over 28/9 and they sure as hell can offer them one year deals with triggers based upon performance ala Vince and Cross (who are far better players).
  15. Dunn is signed until 2017...which is a huge mistake given form. And i'd trade Tom McDonald for a better KPB if there are any available takers.... Hogan and Kent, yes.
  16. Salem dropped? another stuff up. Garland and T-Mac should be out before him.
  17. Garland finished? he's contracted until 2018...Dunn 2017....bet list management wish they had their time over again
  18. I'm going to be hounded... Tom McDonald is a long way off being an AFL standard KPB. He can't kick, and he rarely splits packs to spoil or mark. He floats across in uncontested situations, and tries to take the game on (don't blame effort) yet regularly turns it over. He is not an attacking player, his job first and foremost is to DEFEND. if you can't kick in 2016, regardless of position, you're not going to cut it - you must know your limitations and handball to those who can dispose efficiently eg. Dale Morris, who has made a career out of knowing his limitations and knowing his role: defend and give to those who are better. I think he has a lot of currency if we were looking to trade out. Young, i know - but he is not the AA material many in the media and on this site think he is. I would be throwing the cheque book at Michael Hurley
  19. upload? i've searched through his account and cant find anyway him saying it was "a lock"
