  1. I agree. LJ was probably the most naturally gifted player I've seen in Dee's colours. I just loved to go to the footy when he was playing. I miss that electricity. To see the way Liam's life has panned out is tragic. I just hope that he can do something wonderful with the rest of it.
  2. The racism displayed here is not 'mild' racism, it is racism. Adam Goodes is well within his rights to use his position to to bring awareness to the plight of indigenous Australians. His dance was an expression of pride in his culture, that's all. Get over it! This reminds me of what happens when a representative of any repressed culture stands up proudly for his people. The people in the advantaged position don't like it and instinctively argue to discredit it. Think of the response to Muhammad Ali, who spoke out for his people and refused to play the well-behaved but benign African-American. He is seen as a hero now but at the time he was hated. Turn over to Q&A right now and hear some thoughtful analyse about this. The fact is, the indigenous culture in Australia has been discriminated systematically throughout our history. It continues to happen and this ridiculous response to Adam Goodes display of pride clearly illustrates this.
  3. Jeez we've got Some dud payers. They (port) seem to slot them at will. We actually have looked knackered since half way through the second quarter.
  4. I agree. In his AA CHB year Neitz was marking everything he went for in the same way as TMac. He wasn't particularly creative or mobile but rather, he was powerful and disciplined. He had great judgement of the flight of the ball like TMac but ran in straighter lines. I was very sceptical when ND pushed him forward. I didn't think he would have the creativity, in fact he didn't. He developed a very straight forward style. Attack the ball and get it. If you remember, his kicking for goal was a real problem and he used to wave the ball around like a school kid in his approach. He had to work hard to correct this but eventually became a super effective spearhead. But he was never brilliant, just a great footballer. Schwarz was a beautiful kick. A bit ragged in his first year (complete with long hair and headband) but watch that footage of him in '94. Kicked them from everywhere. Later in his career when he was big, slow and anchored to the ground, he became a beautiful deliverer of bullet-like 40m passes to Robbo and Neitz. He was a creative architect at high half-forward. A really smart player Hogan's kicking is a worry. He is fine from within 35m but watch the way he holds the ball and how his leg and foot are not at full extension. That's why he kicks low and not especially long. But he has a pretty good accuracy rate from his range so that's ok for now. His field kicking is better and more natural but again not particularly penetrating. I hope he can work on it because he is so good at the contest. If you watch that amazing footage of him skateboarding we can see that he does have great balance and coordination and that bodes well for his further development.
  5. Give us your source or its just scuttlebutt.
  6. We are still several players away from having a good list. This was our weakest team for the year and we don't have any other players demanding a spot in the side. That was a drubbing reminiscent of the Neeld days some of our long serving players fell back into patterns that were common in the dark days. Basic skills errors abounded. Roos suggested they were tired. I hope they can bounce back next week after an eight day break. It still points to the need for a very aggressive trading period at the end of the season. We need another quality mid, damaging tall forward and a decent ruckman.
  7. Probably the most evil person in the Western world. Not joking
  8. We have lost the majority of our games since he has played for us and he has taken a lot of screamers. Hmmmm.......on that evidence we should let him go to GWS without a whimper. Actually, I'd love to keep Howe and love to see him doing that up forward but I don't think its part of Roos' plan.
  9. PS. Reading D'land is beginning to feel like inadvertently overhearing a couple's embarrassing marital argument.
  10. I joined Demonland in 2006 because I'm a Demon tragic and couldn't get enough footy talk. I'm reading it less and less because posters attack each other with a ferocity that they would probably never display in a face to face exchange. Can't people agree to disagree respectfully without attacking each other's character and puffing their own chests out?
  11. In the short interview with Matt Burgan his awareness and analysis of the loss were very astute. While his kicking may be flawed, so much of his game has been first rate so far this year. A future leader for sure.
  12. That is so true. Especially when we were under siege in the second half I noticed Dunn, Garland etc. roosting the ball as far as they could to the half-back contests. Last week we were slotting the ball to players that had made space and then looking to use the corridor as soon as possible. They forced us to revert to what we thought were 'safe' options. They did their homework well.
  13. I agree with this. When the pressure is on at finals time it is the strong, tough but skilful and smart that win the games. Mind you, if they are super quick as well that sure gives you an edge (Dylan Shiel, Judd and Ablett fit that criteria).
  14. we lost it in the middle. After half time we couldn't win a stoppage. It was one way traffic and they were clearing it at will. Is this the leg speed of our mids, Mumford's domination in the ruck, the lack of footy smarts by the mids or a combination of all of the above? Their ball movement was fantastic. Speed, skills and smarts. There is no substitute for class and GWS have heaps. Even Scully was allowed to look good FFS! Hopefully Jones won't play another as bad. Tyson looked slow. Vince was short of a gallop. Vanders was quiet and Newton, who was good early, was rendered ineffective. I guess we Dee supporters know not to get to far ahead of ourselves but that was awful.
  15. I thought he copped a forearm or shoulder to the of the neck/head. I've never seen Jetta shirk an issue and don't think he ever would. I think they were talking macho carp. If they had watched Jetta closely over his career they would know that he was probably stunned and hurt rather than shirking.
  16. I think that it's sad. He has done nothing but what is best for the team. I hope that he puts it back together.
  17. I like Hughesy, just not as a comedian,
  18. Has he been moonlighting during his rehab period?
  19. That's very flattering Jumbo. I'm not even a footballer, just a keen tragic.
  20. Jimmy's kicking was meant to be his great strength. So many of his kicks under match pressure don't hit targets. He takes too long to balance, then leans back and lengthens the ball drop. It results in the ball floating off target or over the target's head. He needs to address this immediately or he is not much good to us.
  21. Thanks guys. Found it
  22. Sorry to start a new thread on this but does anyone know if the AFL is going to put the replay online? I already have an AFL live pass but when I try to access this it wants me to resubscribe. Its a very stuffed up system? I notice that Richmond vs Port has been up since yesterday and they played slightly after us. What's the story? Anyone?
  23. No. Picking Cale morton before Paddy Dangerfield and Cyril Rioli is the biggest selection Gaffe in the history of MFC drafting.
  24. If he still there at pick 40 it would be a dream but I very much doubt it.
