A Day at the Races
Canāt wait for the Spring Carnival to be honest, having a tough time following our Demons at the moment, canāt imagine how we could handle September if we made it. Anyways, hereās a list of big races that Santos is nominated in, why not aim high when your horse is trained by the Waterhouse/Bott combo. Golden Rose Stakes [Group 1] 1400m 22nd September Caulfield Guineas 1600m 13th October Ladbrokes Cox Plate 2040m 27 October [49kg] I will update on lead-up races as they come to hand. Could be a very exciting Spring. The horse is not guaranteed to be running in any of the above races but mapping out a prep is essential. Hopefully it all goes to plan.

Constant New threads
@MSFebey Gāday mate. If you couldnāt keep up last week with all the new topics, how are all those new ones going post match?

Lyon: Dees in 8 by Default
Heās 100% correct on the below. These run ons kill us every time and we react way too late. āI was expecting to see a fight to the death attitude from my side given where they were. āI saw a passive acceptance of Sydney kicking the ball to whoever they wanted, wherever they wanted, and once again, they gave up seven goals in a row. āThatās the disappointment right there.ā

Wanted: The Hail Mary Kick-in with 1 minute to go
Iāll harp on this until I turn blue in the face. All of us behind the goals in the last have lost our voice at trying to get someone, anyone to go near him. At worst, by putting a body on him Heeney is moved from the square and not roasting marshmallows.

Changes v West Coat - Round 22
Out : Hunt (inj?) Spargo, Pedersen In: Melksham, Hibberd, Kent/Hannan Hibbo and Melksham put in a solid training session Saturday morning. They were out on the track before the main group and continued to train hard well after the group was gone. Intense running exercises and ball skills. From that observation they seem ready to go. Iād give Garlett one more go. At least he looked dangerous in a small patch during the last quarter. He seemed switched on for a few minutes albeit too late but was taken off just when I thought he could cause some damage. Instead Spargo was kept on and was struggling to kick over a jam tin.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 21
This was very similar to the Round 1Cats loss. Allowed the Swans to control the tempo in the second and third quarters. Easy exits out of defence with short precise kicks and had us going side to side aimlessly. Structures were non existent in that period. @Lucifer's Hero is pretty much spot on after what I saw from ground level. The lapse cost us Round 1 and it cost us today. Yes we kicked bad but I canāt hang my hat on that. If one of those is a goal, ball is back in the centre and who knows what happens. We had a chance to win the game but letās not get fooled by the last quarter. Swans were hanging on for dear life with 2 less men.....and to allow Heeney to camp in the goalsquare for the entire term on his own is astounding. We didnāt send one player to at least stand next to him and impede him at all. Edit: This is an opinion on today only. I still believe we can win the last two with Hibbo and Melksham back.

A Day at the Races
Fair enough @Macca I thought about starting the āMonkey Businessā thread but itās a bit difficult articulating without promoting the gambling aspect. It seems like a separate thread is needed if we are to keep posting sports multis, odds and specials on various sports. Topics on the main footy forum have posters constantly posting odds ( guilty myself on that aspect a few times) and of course itās not everyoneās cup of tea. Iām all open to more ideas on how we can get the thread started. With spring around the corner the thoroughbred talk will be in full swing on here. Iām happy to tone it down and stick on topic.

Casey Demons v Sandringham - Round 19
That makes sense. From all reports he trained and looked fine on Thursday, we were hoping his absence today wasnāt anything serious.

Casey Demons v Sandringham - Round 19
Hannan is the held over emergency and he trained fully this morning at Goschs whereas Vanders was a no show. If Hannan is a late in for Vanders tomorrow which player do we hold over since all other emergencies played today at Casey?

Round 21 Non MFC Games
Wow, you clearly see the ump behind the kicker telling him to get out of the space and the trainer still encroached. Two umps looking on and nothing.

Round 21 Non MFC Games
Why isnāt that 50 against the Port trainer for coming within 5 metres of Ryan on a set shot?

Round 21 Non MFC Games
Hmmm, West Coast are close enough to pinch this one.

The odds for either team to win under 15.5 pts in Hawthorn v Geelong games should be $1.10

A Day at the Races
It was always the risk Wadda. As mentioned previously the horse has settled well back in its last few starts and has been motoring home late, possibly too late. I thought after the claim and the soft track the horse would overturn its fortunes.

Hawthorn foot down! Cats rattled big time at the moment.

Training - Saturday 11 August, 2018
Hoping itās general soreness from last week. I went through Thursdayās training thread and no mention of AVB training or not training on that day. Did any track watchers notice him on Thursday?
