A Day at the Races
Best Bet: Doomben Race4 No.5 Sedanzer TAB Odds: $2.90 Scone Cup winner two starts ago and a terrific finishing effort last start to place 3rd by less than 2 lengths. Dropping 2.5kg from last run and will carry 6kg less than Ambitious. Could be the difference if the track remains heavy. Stradbroke Trifecta Selection. Number 15 Perast. Odds- $7.00(W) $2.70(P) The horse has definitely found some form with 2 wins in a row. Coming in with a light weight and has to be a decent chance to run a place.

A Day at the Races
No biggie Macca. If the horse does gain a run I’ll be putting a few dollars each way on it at those odds and those races down the straight can throw a few bolters in the placings. A small trifecta or first 4 wouldn’t hurt. Mate is more excited about the horse’s future.

A Day at the Races
Another scratching in the race Macca so one more needed for ‘El Magnificence’ to gain a start. Mate is very excited about the horse’s prospects. ‘Despatch’ holding favouritism currently.

A Day at the Races
I’m happy with picking 5 horses and placing them our own way Macca. I’ll be studying the form tomorrow night and might even place my selection then due to work on Saturday. If I decide to wait until Saturday morning for selection I’ll make sure I find time early enough to place it.

A Day at the Races
There’s been one scratching in the El Magnificence race. Now for two more?.

A Day at the Races
Stradbroke is my pick Macca. One of my favourite races on the calendar. Actually, the whole race day is thoroughly enjoyable. DZ would like to announce Dan Zephyr is officially retired. One of mate’s other horses and former stablemate to Dan Zephyr has accepted for Flemington on Saturday. It’s the third emergency so here’s hoping for a few scratchings. Flemington Race 9 Number 19 El Magnificence. Odds $26-$34 ( Various ) https://www.racenet.com.au/racing-form-guide/flemington-20180609/ron-taylor-handicap-race-9

Wow, thanks Macca. A 32% increase since 2015, that’s a massive percentage. Great to see they didn’t forget about the little guys with the push to increase money at grass roots level. I’ve been to a few picnic races and had a lot of fun. I remember whilst holidaying at Phillip Island one summer my uncle took us to the Woolamai picnic races and the best part was watching the same horse go around twice on the day. Almost got into the money in both races.

Thanks Wadda. Haven’t looked at scratchings yet. Time to take the green vest off. Mooney Valley Race 2 No.1 William Thomas TAB Odds: $2.40

A Day at the Races
A bit of an update from Richard Bensley this morning on Sky. The two comments I found most interesting are below. • Enticing Star. Race 6 No.8 Odds $1.20. The gun Perth mare is unbeaten after her five career starts and is a must watch tomorrow. Connections did consider taking the horse to either Sydney or Melbourne for the spring but those plans are on hold at this stage. Horse is more likely to feature in Perth’s summer carnival contesting mares races. • Osborne Bulls. Currently sitting 19th in the official order of entry for the Stradbroke to be run next week. The field runs at 16 with Cummings hoping a few horses drop out for the horse to gain a start. If it doesn’t run they will take it to the paddock. Currently $11 for the Stradbroke.

A Day at the Races
Best Bet: Rosehill Gardens R7 No.6 Seaway TAB Odds: $ 3.20 Romped it in at Canterbury two starts ago over the 1550m and was a beaten favourite last start when coming back to the 1400m where the colt settled last and produced a barnstorming finish down the outside to miss by 0.5 of a length. The winner on that occasion got all the luck on the inside which proved the difference in the end. The horse will appreciate racing at the 1500m and should enjoy the perfect run after drawing barrier 5. I expect this colt to be too strong for these over the final stages. Obvious danger is I Am Serious (2) but it has to contend with barrier 12.

A Day at the Races
Nice, tips are in nice and early. I have my backup in case of scratchings in the morning. Actually @Macca what time do the Perth scratchings come through on Saturdays? I’ll make sure the phone is fully charged at the footy anyway.

A Day at the Races
Out of Sebring and Black Caviar, that would have been a cheap exercise ?. Ran on well late after slightly missing the start.

A Day at the Races
Funny that, I just received a text containing a few tips for the day and Andaz was one of them.

A Day at the Races
Number 6 Naval Warfare. It was my second pick for the win so it’s worked out in the end.

A Day at the Races
Best Bet: Doomben Race 5 No.3 Zousain TAB Odds: $3.10 Drawn nicely and McEvoy booked to take the ride again. He’s ridden the horse to both career wins to date and his last victory looked soft in the end. Settled back and showed a devastating turn of foot upon straightening to reel in the leaders quickly and finished off with the old “hands and heels” method. I believe this horse has plenty more to offer, certainly looks a star of the future.

A Day at the Races
You’re spot on Macca, Doomben is shaping up as a really good day for racing. I had a look at the whole card a short time ago and there are some terrific races. I have a selection for the McKell Cup. I’m going for a value runner in No.5 Lovani. Edit: Did I go too early? Wadda hasn’t declared his pick yet I see.

A Day at the Races
Impending for the trifecta fellas. I don’t mind throwing in a pick for the McKell as well Macca.
-
A Day at the Races
I’m happy with any of the 3 Macca, here’s my order of preference in case a “tiebreaker” is required. 1. McKell Cup - Randwick 2. Kingsford-Smith Cup - Doomben 3. Queensland Oaks - Doomben

A Day at the Races
Hold your horses!! You’re wondering on the right track Macca. Spoke to mate today and they are considering giving the Zephyr one more run with the blinkers on. Admittedly the win was in a weak field of 4 and had the horse lost it would have been in the paddock definitely. Will provide further updates soon. Will check out the trifecta options when I get home a little later.
