You probably didn't notice this...
Straight Sets Simon replied to DeeGee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Did anyone else notice he has been demoted from number 7 to 14? I have never seen that before. -
...I hope the club doubles it.
-
I am not confident at all. I really worry about the team's ability to back up again after last week.
-
Everyone needs to move on. The good news is he isn't injured so we know he will be able to play in three weeks.

Adrian Anderson on SEN ofter 6.

This is a key point that has been missed by the media. -
Was the Jack Trengove hearing fair?
Straight Sets Simon replied to Redleg's topic in Melbourne Demons
I want to know why so long was spent hearing from the Adelaide doctor about Dangerfield's condition when the Chairman instructed the panel to focus on the conduct, not the consequence to the tackled player. If this is the case, all the evidence from the Adelaide doctor was irrelevant and should not have been heard. -
Trengove suspended for 2 ... now 3 weeks

The part I found most interesting was this: If this is the case, all the evidence from the Adelaide doctor was irrelevant and should not have been heard. -
OUT: Grimes, Jamar, Trengove IN: Macdonald, Martin, Bennell

Out for three, disgraceful. -
6. Moloney 5. Jamar 4. Petterd (even if he didn't kick a goal today I would still give him votes for his efforts and willingness to attack the ball) 3. Sylvia 2. Bail 1. Green
-
Jamar needs more relief in the ruck, whether it is from Dunn or a player like Martin, Newton or Spencer I am not sure. Macdonald will come in for Grimes if he is still injured.
-
The day that Lade went after him but instead Morton went and chased after the football? Morton has been soft on many occasions, that was not one of them.
-
Glad to see his tackling efforts against West Coast didn't go unnoticed.
-
His attempted tackle on Kerr last week was embarrassing.
-
Every time he goes to "tweet" he should do 50 push-ups instead, will be much more beneficial.

All valid points and it is hard to say. Bailey has never struck me as coach who can lift and inspire a team. In a roundabout way hopefully some good comes from the result last Thursday because all it takes is one bad game for things to go back a long way.
-
Like I said, I'm not a big Bailey fan but just thought that the individual efforts of most players (incidentally Watts was one of a few who didn't give up) was not acceptable at any level of football and all the blame should not be directed at Bailey.
-
I've never been a big Bailey fan, his reliance on pushing forwards deep into defence has cost the team dearly but against West Coast I wasn't so annoyed with him (despite the fact no forwards were in the forward line!). I was annoyed with the effort from players. I've mentioned this before, but I feel it needs to be highlighted. 90% of the reason that Collingwood are so good is because they work hard and they work smart. They never stop running, never. They don't just run to where the ball is, they run to where the ball is going to be. They have Swan and Pendlebury who are stars but pound for pound much of their list isn't amazing. What really annoyed about Melbourne on Thursday night was their lack of effort. - Players caught flat footed - Players not protecting teammates with the ball - Lack of second, third, fourth or fifth efforts - Inability to tackle (Morton's attempted tackle on Kerr was one of the most pathetic efforts I have seen from any footballer) - Not running hard enough - Not running to the right positions - Players simply taking that extra 0.5 of a second to react, by which time the opposition already have the ball The one thing from Bailey I would like to see change straight away is to go back to man-on-man football. At least that way it would force the players to show some accountability and it simplifies their role. As professional athletes there is no reason why the players should not run themselves into the ground each week. If they can't keep running, then they need to improve their fitness. I am still amazed by Dane Swan, he is a bit chubby (for a footballer), has tiny legs and doesn't have the silkiest skills. Then I look at a player like Sylvia who is lean, strong, fast and has very good skills. But the player that never stops, the player that is quicker, stronger and always racks up more possessions is Swan, not Sylvia. Much of it is mental, and maybe that comes back to Bailey but unfortunately the signs were there against the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Melbourne need to watch Collingwood, not their tactics or their "press", but the way that they never stop running, never stop working for each other and never stop trying.

I've got this crazy idea, I may have mentioned it once or twice since round 1, 2007 but I might say it again. Play the forwards in the forward line. I loved watching Moloney run through the middle with the ball only to find not a single teammate to kick it to. It takes me back to the good old days with Daniher. While we are at it, play man-on-on. Stuff all this zone rubbish, simple football.

They are still celebrating the 90 point over the Gold Coast...

Welcome to Demonland ... CAMERON JOHNSTON
Straight Sets Simon replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I love these player descriptions. No weaknesses? This kid must be the greatest player of all time! Also, good to see that our quota of three or four red heads has been maintained. -
One thing I did like about this years jumper was that the AFL logo was only on the red yolk, it didn't overlap. When the logos on the jumper overlap the patterns it takes away from the design which is key to the jumper, whereas if it is just on the red the design is much clearer. Obviously with the "V" being sharper, the yolk is narrower and there will most likely be an overlap. I like the sharp V, however I would prefer if the top of the V started below the cuffs so that there was both a sharper V and no overlap. I realise I am nit picking, but that's just my take. On the logo, I prefer the more detailed one. In some cases the simple one is needed but I hope the club use the detailed version as much as possible.

You know it's the off season when...

That's what I was getting at. The point is, it is the logo, again there may be a second logo (Demon) but this is the logo (it is just called "The Emblem").
