WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JOSH TYNAN
Straight Sets Simon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
A mate of mine who works in the Gippsland area told me today that Melbourne would take Tynan, I didn't take much notice of him to be honest but apparently that was the word coming from his family. -
The Wire is the greatest show I have ever seen. I have watched every season twice. I've watched little bits of Breaking Bad and Dexter, need to watch more.

The only stat that comes anywhere near representing defensive pressure is the tackle stat. In 2011 Jurrah averaged 2.3 tackles, hardly the worst going around. Yes, he could improve but so could 40 other players on the list. To say that Jurrah "NEVER pulls his weight for the team" is ignorant, disrespectful and wrong. Many of us here are highly critical of our own players, but to question a players commitment to the team like you did is just rubbish.

I'm sorry, but this is the biggest unsubstantiated load of rubbish I have read on Demonland in a very long time, and that is saying something.

I distinctly remember this and there were a few (I think over at Demonology) who were worried about losing Scully to GWS even at that early stage.

Players who will thrive under Neeld?
Straight Sets Simon replied to PRIME's topic in Melbourne Demons
Any player who has a head down, bum up attitude. Grimes comes immediately to mind. -
"I want to have a competitive team..."

I was probably being a bit facetious, my point is, what's done is done and there is no need for the hate. I do agree that he probably should just focus on his footy but you can't blame him for taking the money. We picked up Mitch Clark who apparently only wanted to leave Brisbane to be closer to his family in WA. You win some, you lose some but by gaining Clark and two first round picks we are winners all round. EDIT: Forgot to add, I do agree his comment about joining as a "courageous" decision is rubbish.

I'm disturbed by the attitude of many here. The thing I'm annoyed about is that we didn't get Martin because he is by far the best player from that draft.
-
Not at all, just saying these things take time and to not expect too much change straight away. People here are surprised when players come back from their holidays and they haven't improved their fitness on the year before.
-
To be honest I'm not that excited by 2012. I think any changes Neeld makes will take at least 12 months to take full effect.

2011 Player Review - # 46 Sam Blease
Straight Sets Simon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's been like that for about the past 50 years, nothing new at all. -
Here. Not saying it is, but could easily be interpreted as a backhander at Bailey.

2011 Player Review - # 44 Rohan Bail

Gun, love the way he plays. If his knee holds up next season he should come close to playing all 22 games. -
RR would cross a busy freeway just to tell someone that Phil Read wasn't that good. Even four years on he is still banging on about him.

2011 Player Review - # 28 Joel Macdonald
Straight Sets Simon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Macdonald is and will be for a number of years much better than Strauss (even without a broken leg). Hard as nails, breaks the lines, uses the ball pretty well (much better than say Bartram), has good hands and provides genuine toughness down back. -
Hopefully one of the new coaches we have appointed can spend some time with him working on his kicking and marking technique.
