Melbourne starting to play better but our players just seem to always stay back and ball watch at crucial times.

Strauss isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Contract discussions put on hold for eleven Demons

Why would a journalist from The Age be on a Herald Sun SuperCoach show? -
Contract discussions put on hold for eleven Demons
Straight Sets Simon replied to DemonDave's topic in Melbourne Demons
I just saw Jack Darling sprint from the back line forward, never looked like getting the ball but his work rate was just sensational to provide the option. You don't need to be a good footballer to do those basic things. -
The rules are pretty clear, it's just no one bothers to read them.

The Demons Playing List Assessment
Straight Sets Simon replied to Deano74's topic in Melbourne Demons
The problem is if we go deep into one draft we will most likely pick up more "NQR" players, I would have thought doing it over two years would be a better option? -
Brad Green's Retirement - It's Official
Straight Sets Simon replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great career, great bloke, well done Brad and thank you for giving it your all for the fans and the club. -
Scully drops the ball near his chin, McDonald isn't much better.

Just putting it out there, could Matthew Primus be a good option as a midfield and or ruck coach?

The Nathan Jones Appreciation thread.....
Straight Sets Simon replied to cowboy_from_hell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jones now plays with composure, he doesn't look rushed and more often than not he makes the right decision with good skills. -
Is Howe the best contested mark you've seen?
Straight Sets Simon replied to Deestroy All's topic in Melbourne Demons
He never fumbles too, probably the best hands in the air and on the ground in the wet. -
6) Jones 5) Green 4) Sylvia 3) Grimes 2) Tapscott 1) Bail

He's just far too skinny and probably still not fit.

Gysberts looks even skinnier this year.

If Gold Coast kicked straight in front of goal they probably would be leading.

Why the hell is Blease constantly playing on? Surely he only needs to be told once.

Brad Green's goal celebrations are ridiculous. This game is the perfect opportunity for players like Gysberts, Strauss and Spencer to really stand up and give it everything they have without the risk of being punished by the opposition, but they all look a bit lackluster. On a side note, as much as I like Tom McDonald, his ball drop is so bad that if it doesn't improve in a couple of years time he won't be on the list (even with all his positives).

Both have played well, but it just shows how much better skills and decision making is with little or not pressure applied to you.
-
Happy to see Morton given a role, most players will look rubbish playing on Ablett, but Morton just wasn't up to it at all.

Tanking doesn't create a "losing culture" ...
Straight Sets Simon replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've used this example many times and I even heard Greg Denham say that this wasn't tanking because they (the punters) knew who was and wasn't playing going into the game. He must have Velcro straps on his shoes because there is no way known he has the mental capacity to tie his shoe laces every day. -
The wooden spoon could seriously be ours

That's a decent sized "if". -
A Tanker.

We all want Morton to play well, that is why we are so hard (sometimes unfairly) on him.
-
The problem with this particular Morton incident is that it wasn't a skill error, it wasn't even a brain fade. It was just him being soft, which after all these years is still a big concern. He might have played well the rest of the game, and good on him but that moment was a real lowlight.
