Hammer Comes Down at the Crows After External Review
Straight Sets Simon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
2019 has been the year I pulled right back including pretty much cutting off all football media (which was a great decision even if Melbourne were flying). After the high of seeing us win two finals in person in front over 90,000 people (I wasn't even that upset about the preliminary final loss) to then go back to be complete and utter rubbish in less than six months just crushed me. -
Hammer Comes Down at the Crows After External Review

If he's not good enough for Adelaide then he's good enough for us! In all seriousness, to go from a decent caretaker coach to out the door is a pretty crazy ride. -
Hammer Comes Down at the Crows After External Review

2019 sucked the life out of me unlike any season before, but a few shocking list decisions have kick started my heart and I am back. Bring on 16th place next year I say. -
Hammer Comes Down at the Crows After External Review
Straight Sets Simon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Am I right in saying we aren’t doing an external review? I hope we don’t, because we are perfectly fine, no point having a review of club that is going so well. -
He'll be gone by the bye next year.
-
This will give me great comfort when O. McDonald has five goals on him at half time on Ben Brown and May and Lever are sitting on the sidelines.
-
Big loss for us. If May and Lever can't get on the park again this year and O. McDonald becomes our main key defender then it will be a disaster.
-
His player ratings are horrible and I'm not sure anyone actually rates our list in the first place.
-
I rate him. If fit, he improves our forward line a lot.

Angus Brayshaw to Fremantle Rumours
Straight Sets Simon replied to Lord Nev's topic in Melbourne Demons
All a contract does is guarantee income. If for example Brayshaw was to leave Melbourne for Fremantle then at a minimum he would get the same length and size of contract at Fremantle that he had at Melbourne. The AFL need to change draft rules so that players do not need to give permission to be traded. That way a player's contract can become a traceable asset to the club. Therefore, in the case of Brayshaw his contract means he has this guaranteed income but it also means Melbourne can trade him in that time. Then once Brayshaw qualifies for free agency he can choose wherever he wants to go. This would restore the balance and stop contracted players nominating where they go all the time as if they are free agents. -
2019 Player Reviews: #9 Charlie Spargo
Straight Sets Simon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
All he needs to do is grow 10cm, improve his speed, endurance, kicking accuracy, kicking penetration, marking, handballing, tackling, strength and decision making and we will have bona fide star on our hands. -

He’ll fit right in at Melbourne. -
When fit he's very good.
-
Should we throw in Gawn and Oliver too just to be safe? I like Papely but come on.
-
Can we accidentally give them O. McDonald instead?

He's exactly the kind of player we don't need. -

The calumny of the AFL's priority pick policy
Straight Sets Simon replied to olisik's topic in Melbourne Demons
True, but our horrendous drafting didn't help either. If SOS did a good job at GWS they would have been going for their third straight premiership in a row this year such was the number of top picks they wasted. If we can't land a star with pick 3 this year then we don't deserve to be in the competition. -
First we move Fritsch forward then we focus on actually improving basic skills, I can't believe what I'm seeing. Hopefully we recruit another seven tall key defenders to restore the balance.
-
With our current coaching staff and fetish for slow unskilled players that won’t be happening.
-
He is quick and has skills though.

We got Dunkley when we could have got Pickett? Bloody hell.
