  1. It was fine, it was an interesting group Hogan, Weidemann, Smith, Hulett, Watts and Brayshaw They were taking kicks from 30, 40 and 50 out from all the angles The little hop skip and jump in the middle of the runup is not as pronounced, watched him for about 10 minutes, action was smooth Loved watching Stafford and Gawn, Stafford got Gawny off balance in one duel with a beautifully timed hip bump and followed him down to the ground hitting him with bag all the way, Gawn waited for a few repeats and then launched at him, got the first pic, but he hit him that hard he knocked him out of my frame and I didn't get the bit of Stafford crashing to the ground, there was a couple of mutual headlocks as well
  2. No was he supposed to? There were players all over the place, didn't see Garlett or McKenna for starters, Hibberd and Melksham didn't do much
  3. They were fine , craft day today, so lots of small groups all over the field, hard to keep track of The non preferred kicking is getting a lot of work
  4. Thanks mods inherently lazy Me "Jordan, nice kicking today, do you ever miss a kick?" Jordan "Nah" Man crush today some of his kicking is sublime Viney VDB JKH and Trengove started to join in drills Spoke to Goody and Macca they are both stressing the physical aspects of the game, you hit and tackle hard
  5. If anybody is interested on whether Joel Smith inherited any traits pic on Instagram any techy type can post here, beyond me
  6. I was at training today, will post pics later, 2 things Hogan has modified action slighty, did 15 minutes of goalkicking from all possies including 50 missed maybe 2 and not too badly from my count. Salem starting to be involved with clearance and stoppage work as a mid
  7. I'll try my best, normally I know when I am getting a straight bat answer, or if I am asked not to pass on Asked Dion Johnstone about settling in, loving every second surprisiingly, Club making sure they don't break him. Up close nice and solid, same basic physique as Nev, as he matures will be a handful in the fwd line
  8. DS the tone of your post 'seemed' to suggest that the previous players hadn't really done anything like this, Sylvia was one who actually did heaps, Aaron Davey another The kids love Jack Watts, most of the banner kids WANT to run out with him.
  9. DeeSpencer, for all his faults as a player, Col Sylvia used to organise regular visits, I mean at least 2 or 3 times a month to the Children's Hospital with players, it went unreported.
  10. Spoke to a few of them about the 'lack' of running in the pre season up to now, as you know they are all on GPS, running longer distances at a more consistent pace, very little drop off, reason the ball was out second session, no need as in the past to spend pre Xmas getting them fit.
  11. Pics are up on Instagram, That is the beep test DS they should be doing 4.something for each run As for the non preferred, if you stuff up the kick you follow it and tidy it up or kill it, team rule
  12. Salem is looking fit and healthy, hopes/thinks/knows he is over his health issues, says he is stronger than last year As for the other bit, the negativity bores me, the team is in a great place, let's just look forward, every player wants to get better, any player that doesn't won't be a player for long
  13. Just a comment on the non preferred kicking drill, seems to happen every session now, Hogan is one of the better exponents, looks at ease on both It is getting better, they even have a drill where they receive a kick with back to goal and have to turn left or right and kick with non preferred to player running wide, a few wayward and ground balls, I nearly wore Sam Frost coming straight at me, he decided to leave ball and avoid fence, I reckon Goodwin will have a team who can kick and properly by April They are also doing a lot of agility work, seems to be get it out of the traffic and run Forest run, Salem got a huge pat on the back from Macca for just hitting a dropped ball forward into the path of a player running past, instead of stopping and trying to pick it up
  14. Of course I did, at work at the moment, later today
  15. Two AFL academy guys for next 2 weeks, one in 31 and the other wearing 8, the one in 31 is from Stingrays, one of Stingrays coaches also in attendance Could only stay for an hour so took photos Only piece of information, Filipovic has been given the nickname Flipper, not impressed, hoping it will evolve overtime The bits I watched, Hogan and Watts outstanding again, this is getting wonderfully monotonous, Lewis with main group, Tommy Mac got dressed in the dark
  16. No not arguing bit more comment only
  17. Not all would breathe a sigh of relief, as I am not as bothered as some, I am sure others feel the same, like Kennedy, Jesse will mature MFC supporters, probably due to the last 40 years or so, place unrealistic expectations on young shoulders After speaking to Jesse a couple of times and watching him train, he is working his arse off to be a better player this year, whether this includes modifying his goal kicking technique we will see when the real thing starts If I can take a pic on Dom Tyson hitting a target with his right foot, anything is possible
  18. Oooohhh eerrrr....there's a euphemism I haven't heard before....
  19. Skuit, Josh Kennedy has had that ridiculous line dancing technique but because he is now a recognised Coleman contender it is never mentioned, first 3 years at West Coast 7, 31 and 41 goals, sounds eerily familiar
  20. So I wrote So where does it say he does not need to practice and improve? He is like 50% of the team, still young in terms of both age and games experience, some of the expectations placed him by posters on here are frankly ridiculous, similar to Jack Watts in years gone past, he has kicked a similar amount of goals to Jack Riewoldt at a similar stage, so hopefully he will be on the same trajectory of goal kicking as Jack
  21. I think with his aerobic capacity developed to where it is now, I think he will be wasted if we play him as just a KPF (the label), although would hate to be the defender chasing him around the 50, goals will come from everybody if we develop the potential that is obviously there, so he may kick more than the 40, that is the number I would be content with
  22. Nope, the stutter has been there since day one, I watched with amazement (along with other players ) at his first training session when he lined up for a shot at goal, it is another myth on here that he hasn't got the distance, he has, as an avid training watcher he can kick them from anywhere. This is still a very young guy who has had issues both physical and mental,.he will be fine, I am amused that the only people who don't rate him are MFC supporters. He is going to be one part of a very good team going forward, if he kicks a consistent 40 or 50 goals that will do me, because hopefully we will have a few more doing the same thing, training drills are already showing me that this is what the plan is
  23. Your KPI for him is for goals kicked, he is on par with Jack Riewoldt's first couple of years, and Jack is regarded as having a sweet kicking style, from what I have been 'hearing' and with his new aerobic fitness, can see him playing further up the ground anyway, and rotating through the middle, so goals for me are not that important, I want a spread of kickers across the whole 22 This as well, agree
  24. He has already kicked a bag of 7 with his hopscotch approach, I haven't noticed much difference in his kicking action although they haven't been doing a lot of goalkicking practice per se, he has probably had about 5 or 6 set shots during the drills. They tried to alter the kicking action in his first pre season, but he reverted back to his own method in games, will be interesting to see post Xmas as to whether he has worked on it
