Satyriconhome replied to waynewussell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sport at an elite level has changed in the last 5 to 10 years Everything has to be tried now to get an edge Goody and Macca would want to see which players embraced the exercise, which players did just enough to get through and if any didn't embrace it You are talking about 40 odd full time athletes who should be able to get through an exercise like this and want to be pushed to see where their limits are, I asked a few and the answers were not sugar coated it was hard -

Sorry to disappoint you but I was asked to reconsider my decision to provide a less jaundiced view of proceedings This type of training can make you stronger mentally, it is your brain telling your body you can't do something, so if you know you are capable of going that extra step you will I am all for anything, legal of course, that may give the team an edge, coz every team is striving for the same thing Goody and Macca have the physicality now that they have been striving for, now the mental strength needs to be instiled, which we have in some like Lewis, Jones, Viney, but we need in all 40+ The perceived mental fragility in the players is something supporters have been banging on about, when something different is tried to try and alleviate that perception, some whinge about that I have done my 15 years in army browns and greens and loved every minute of it, sleep deprivation included -

Is sleep deprivation as well? So you obviously went with the mindset not to embrace what they were trying to achieve. Do you think the players went with the same mindset, I am sure Goodwin would be pleased to see that in players, The ones I spoke to, note spoke to, said it was the hardest thing they have done but could see why they did it If the result is one player, who has run himself into the ground on a wet day, finds it in himself to chase a loose ball and kick a goal that gets us four points then it will have been worth it In speaking to both Goody and Macca, note speaking again, they not only want a team that is physically tough but also mentally, they obviously thought this exercise would benefit the players Dom Tyson was not downbeat when I spoke to him, told me it was all cool, 4 to 6 weeks, approximately what Wagner has been doing since he did his at the end of November and he returns to full squad next week -

The players didn't think so, and they are the ones that matter, it wasn't at all about bonding, it was all about taking them to what they thought were their limits and taking them past it, put a negative slant on it if you wish to- 198 replies

Who will be our third tall forward?
Satyriconhome replied to Bobby Clark's topic in Melbourne Demons
Oh no Bernie's aged two years, please Back pedalling, no not really, just pointing out how anal some are, the website will be updated in time, thought there were more important things in life and maybe the staff were on holiday having a break from dealing with MFC supporters and their constant whining, and it had at least been partially updated I am fully aware of the relationship I have with the players, sad that you have to resort to ageism to get a point across, but hey that is the norm for you anyway, I don't have to put myself on a pedestal, although you have an issue with posters who seem to do that in your eyes, maybe it's you You will be pleased to know this will probably be my last post on this dustbin, I am over the lack of consistency with the moderators, allowing rubbish to be posted in topics, the anonymous heroes who like nothing better, or who have nothing better to do, than denigrate the club, the coaches, the players, the staff, and bully other posters who have the temerity to disagree with them- 127 replies

Satyriconhome replied to Bobby Clark's topic in Melbourne Demons
I speak to the players on a regular basis, don't need a list from club website, who cares if photos are missing, some 'worry' 'about the.most inane things Ill let the guys who update the site know that their jobs are on the line As for the 3rd tall, not sure we need a 3rd 'tall', can see Tim Smith and Hulett both being given a go in pre season to show what they can do- 127 replies

I don't know what you and DD are whinging about, the player list is up to date including new numbers, the only thing that is mssing is photo of new players and they are done in New Year along with team photo Try refreshing your browser, but then again you"ll have nothing to whinge about A petition, all wind and trousers, I was thinking of doing a poll to find out which supporters are biggest whingers, then I realised I don't have to- 127 replies

Goodwin excited by fans’ expectations
Satyriconhome replied to 254alonzoraymond's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm more amazed you actually know Schwab has a FB page, you must be bothered slightly you posted about it -
It is a public forum, the above is standard behaviour, why the need for anonymity, as some would never 'dare' do it face to face
-
It is stated "he has retired on medical advice", it is only getting silly because some posters on here have now managed to get the 'mob' howling behind them, you believe there are other issues, I don't, no excuse for some of the disgusting vitriol being posted here
-
Steady Stuie, even though it has been reported on all media outlets including the club website, the concussion is not real
-
The same could be said for posters who are busily denigrating him, does it make you feel better? Muhammed Ali was not only a boxer, he stood up for personal freedom and against bigotry and racism, could ring a few bells for H The contradiction about the concussion is on fan forums, well known breeding grounds for misinformation and conspiracy theories His time at MFC didn't work out, like a lot of other players, so why is he singled out?
-
A post of alarming succinctness and brevity, says more about you,
-
So what tou are saying then is Josh Mahoney is lieing in public, you can't come to any other conclusion if your opinion is that the concussion issue doesn't exist
-
Gee chap you must have never had a concussion, you do not have to 'get a direct hit on the chin' so to speak, Gus got one of his from getting belted in the back of the head with a ball, your head can accidentally hit the ground under a tackle and nobody notices it, you can get your neck twisted doing the same thing, or you can get an accidental elbow hit to the temple, they will all cause a concussion as the head snaps back H played 220 odd games, it could have been a cumulative affect, one of the more 'infamous' is Jeff Astle a famous soccer player who died of a brain injury, they think brought about by heading a wet leather soccer ball so often, he was 'famous' for his heading ability, he was never actually knocked out Because H is H, if he farted in a particular way this would be news
-
It has never been confirmed that H was going to sue the club, this was the normal scuttelbutt in the newspapers and other media to appeal to the 'less enlightened' We are enterting new territory on the affects of continuous concussions, and with Alex McKinnon now changing the landscape on onfield injuries, I would expect the action you are accusing H of, to actually occur in the future, the club has gone out of its way to ensure this doesn't happen in H's case Bernie Vince was being Bernie Vince, he said the way the club treats concussion is spot on, I agree and so does Nev and Gus, so does the press release from Josh Mahoney

I have already put this DS, Peddo has had a couple of different coaches and what size he should be, he is at size and body shape Macca and Goody want him at, but with 'new' gameplan has to be able to run more, like all of them, spoke to him about it, why we have a new running machine in Spencer as well, has to Ignore Guthrie another one who gets his 'stories' off here -
And if he had stayed on the LTI for a year we would have paid the salary as well, it didn't work out, you never left a job under lesd than perfect circumstances? To actually doubt the concussion issues is pathetic to say the least next time I chat to Gus Brayshaw or Nev Jetta I'll let them know we have some doubters amongst supporters about the debilitating affects a couple of concussions can have Yours is exactly the reaction when a player doesn't fit the normal stereotype, similar to bullies in school or the workplace, except you can do it from behind the anonymity of your keyboard H came to the club, it didn't work, he has gone, I would just say thank you for his efforts

[censored], I can't remember what I watched at training last week, mainly because I don't watch looking to be able to criticise, we have covered the area of speed ad infinitum. If Trenners can get back to full fitness his quickness between the ears will stand him in good stead, he is on a 1 yr contract if he doesn't crack a spot on a regular basis on the AFL side we all know what the outcome will be whether he is fast or not, watching him at training this year reckon his 'speed' puts him in the same group as Trac and Brayshaw when doing speed work -

Oh that's right Trenners has always been slow, he is moving really well doesn't seem to have an issue during match sim, but then again I didn't think he had an issue before the injury
