  1. He is being coached as a mid, there was a little group at the end with Lewis, Clarry, Stretch, Salem and Viney all doing a bit extra when everybody else had left
  2. He was in the rehab group, as he was leaving I asked him ankle? and he said no head, I said the bang on the jaw from Thursday, yes......they have to have a week of light duties these days after a knock, assume he had slight concussion issue
  3. See my posts on the training thread from today, he does not need protecting
  4. OD you must have missed BenKen not getting a name check in the training reports of late My take from what I have seen/read/heard, he is in competition for the small forward spot with Garlett, JKH, Dion Johnstone and maybe Dean Kent, he is training really well but so is most of the squad, assume he will have to shine in practice/pre season games to get a sniff for round 1
  5. Seem to be playing him as small forward, haven't seen him doing any midfield work, another one that is not standing our either good or bad, just ticking off the sessions
  6. In answer to your question, just get a bit bored with posters on here assuming a player can't change something, in this case Trengove's speed or as repeated ad infinitum on here the lack of. We have hardly seen him for a couple of years, he has for the first time in those couple of years completed all sessions before Xmas and is now starting into the build up to games, he knows he needs to improve the burst speed (like every player who has aspirations to play in the middle) so now he has the body that will allow this, he is working on improving, as he did today at training
  7. That as well, he still looks facially like a schoolboy, but they have built a serious frame on him and he is really aggressive, even on the training track, watched him and Viney on a tackling drill today, who was going to blink first
  8. 9.30am closed session supposedly
  9. And here is one for all the Jayden fans Me "Jayden, you know you will be more of a marked man this season, opposition teams will try and rough you up" Jayden "they can try, a couple of them tried it last year, looking forward to it"
  10. Not sure what the true story is now, but concerned with the lack of strapping of any sort if he did the patella, did a couple of kicks as he was walking around so put all the weight on the right leg as he kicked with the left, ANB had the strapping on for nearly a month
  11. Gee Vogon you should have trotted up to the other end for the drill where the forwards were practicing their running patterns and leading and marking and then taking turns defending, Hogan was not beaten once With the running at the end, Tommy Mc was running in the middle of the pack with his brother, and the other running machine Bugg was near the back so assume Hogan and Trac and the others mentioned were running on instruction
  12. The last time was not a dislocation, he got hit in exactly the wrong spot, that was from Ben Mathews when it happened and I confirmed it with ANB today, he is probably a week away, just being ultra cautious because of the past history, he was pounding round the track today with JKH As for Tyson, he told me a quad and 4 to 6 weeks, he is not walking with a limp, there is no strapping to the knee, so I assume a quad inljury, got absolutely nothing from Kent, which is the norm
  13. Watts concussion from knock to jaw Hibberd knee grumbling just managing it ANB and JKH hope to be main group Friday, ANB knee and JKH been building his core, ran fastest time ever last week in testing Tyson and Kent early walking laps Hogan the standout today along with Birthday Boy Brayshaw
  14. Well that is obvious to everybody, but if you want to state it, he basically said the same in the article
  15. I get your point Daisy but speaking to Goody and Macca I don't think they have a best 22 as such I reckon we will see the 22 that are fit and in form each week, with the emphasis on all 40+ being ready at any time to step into the team Yes names such as Lewis Jones Viney Hogan will be picked if they are fully fit and in form each werk but I think we are finally past players getting a game when not fit or in form on name or reputation
  16. What he brings is competition, you need at least 30 players teady to go at AFL every week Alistair Clarkson and his one soldier out one soldier in I asked Mitch Hannan about the Bulldogs last year, he said the listed players in the VFL side knew if one of the AFL side went down they had to be ready to replace so played and trained accordingly We are seeing this at training now the competitveness in every drill We will have at least 15 players who will have the fitness and skills to play midfield, of course some are more skilled than others, but if they can come in and play a role that is all that is required, Trengove among others can do this
  17. I keep saying he kicks from all distances at training , in the article says himself it is all in the head, the hop skip and jump in the runup is slightly smoother if that makes sense
  18. I chat to him quite often, ecstatic is an understatement, he feels he getting better every session he gets under his belt. Have always checked how he was going each time I saw him in last 2 years, think he appreciated it Last Thursday there was a play where he received a pass, turned on a sixpence and rifled a low pass down somebody's throat, can't remember who, told him I got it on camera, posted it and he liked it, said it was a great feeling to just play and not worry about his body He knows he is on a one year contract, so has one crack at it, so will give it everything He looks like the player he was a few years ago, as for perceived slowness, during the repeat 200 last Thursday was again running with Trac so both must be 'slow'
  19. Your experience is beginning to make more sense now McQueen, like any industry where you can make money, there are good operators and charlatans, sounds like your company managed to source charlatans. I have experienced one company that was run by an ex 'special forces' operative, he was, he managed a couple of weekends in the reserves before being elbowed, unfortunately like the personal training and education industry the oversight by 'inspectors' is poor leading to charlatans having free reign to take money before being caught out Hopefully the club will have sourced a professional well accredited organization to provide this training With this training there is no tangible measurement, it is to show the participants that they are capable of more than they think they are, from the snippets some have heard and what was told to me by the players it obviously achieved this, I find it noteworthy that somebody has already mentioned that nobody from the club went to sleep, I have only heard this occurring in professional soldiers previously, so the mental strengthening that Goodwin is trying to instill seems to be already working I have missed the grand total of three training sessions since the start of the pre season, the standouts for me from previous seasons is the sheer physicality on display at every session, the camaraderie amongst the players going to another level, and the drive all show to complete each session without showing stress or tiredness despite what is thrown at them
  20. I have been involved in both the military so know the benefits of this type of training and business leadership but would never claim to be smarter than an AFL player, particularly those studying at University, which I never had the opportunity to do, I learnt business by hands on I am sure most had the native intelligence to get through unscathed The outcome in both sport and business is to win, if it's not in business then make sure you tell the shareholders Unfortunately in both there are casualties, but at least the impact of failure in a footy club is usually restricted to those close to the club and maybe those close to them, not the wider community, still on my bucket list to get my hands on a Lehman Bros'executive throat and squeeze Tyson will be fine, he told me not to panic, second favourite player behind Nev Forgot also done Kokoda recommend it if you want to test yourself
  21. You have it in one, these exercises are all of the above, but as I said you have to embrace it to get any perceived benefit, although at the time it may not seem if there is any benefit
  22. They have had him in the stoppages and midfield drills at training, so assume if he gets a gig that will be his role, he can play up forward as well because he is good at one on one as we have seen. He hasn't missed a beat all pre season. I would think his role would be in the engine room, but he has a lot of mates all competing for spots, which is what he is going to bring competition which can only benefit the team
  23. When he was finally back to full fitness, he wanted to ensure he could attack the ball without fear, so went to Nev for a bit of advice and help with technique, I was surprised with his aggression but Nev said it was always there just needed switching on
  24. You are spoiling us now Six, nice sequence, notice the smirk on Nut's face, likes to think he can match Jayden for wheels
  25. Got your spot down pat now Six hiding in the shade on the Punt Rd side.
