  1. It's called basketball, he could frighten a few mids in the VFL
  2. I never understand posters who say they find some posts/posters insert adjective don't read the farkin things quite simple
  3. You just read them to annoy yourself I take it, there is a name for that, which is sad in itself
  4. AVB has to move up a notch, he is like the rest, he has competition for a spot. I never mention Bernie, coz Bernie is Bernie, 12th pre season, ticking all the boxes, he was good on Monday playing the half back role
  5. The benefit to the player, not the team, he looked a completely different player, my point, he even surprised me with his level of involvement and skill level, so he showed 'the benefit' of what I wrote
  6. They don't advertise closed sessions on the website I was told they were unsure which venue on Monday, I am working anyway, you can attend a closed session, normally starts at 9.15am, at Goschs you see the rehab guys out about 9am, I always look for the gear truck as well, gets there around 9am, if it is parked next to the seating with the cover
  7. Training is training, I don't think anybody is under any illusions, the only difference from past years is that the development is working, the rehab staff have control over injury, Misso has the fitness and physicality of the players the best I have seen in years, so hopefully the promise of the training track will mean more come game day Gee what a reaction when a couple of us were pleasantly surprised by Pencil's performance on Monday and reported the same, he is one example of what is going right, they have worked to get his body right, he has had a couple of excellent months on the track uninterrupted, and we saw the benefit
  8. Trengove has been injured for approximately the last couple and a half years, so the slowness isn't surprising
  9. That's ok chap, just find a bit boring when some criticise, they can just not read it, I have found topics and threads 100% better now I have compiled an ignore list or don't read after first line or 2 As I have said previously I try to provide colour in my reports as DS and WW do a superb job of providing drill detail If I find a new drilll might report that, coz I make a point of asking the coaches what it is for I think the talk about Spencer is because he was improving steadily but yesterday was like watching a new player, games being a different matter of course But it goes some way to showing that the proper development of players we have all longed for is coming to fruition We had a ruckmam in his late 20's, who we have all shaken our heads at, at some point, charging up and down the middle of the ground, providing a target and dishing of accurate handballs and kicks. and still doing it 2 hrs into the session, in 30+deg heat
  10. Matt Jones was looking really good during pre season last year, but during the season he was overtaken by other players, happens all the time. Spencer has obviously taken on board the example set by Gawn, it does help him doing his first full pre season for about 5 or 6 years, if nothing else his improvement drives Gawn to keep ahead of him which again benefits the team You do have the opportunity to not read posts, not dictate what others should or shouldn't find important Of course I do bow to your superior knowledge of pre season and in season training sessions, taken from the sheer number of them you have attended
  11. No they have long weekend off before the QLD camp
  12. Everybody looks slick in the preseason, every man and his dog knows it counts for nothing come game day, if you must dig, then try something less obvious. Grimes and McKenzie in their day were 2 of the best trainers at the club and stood out during sessions Trengove is showing signs that he may have turned the corner and is back to the player he was pre injury, whether this enough to get him into the team with the players we have now, who knows, but I am sure if he is successful he won't let the team down
  13. Still getting used to the woman's team, managed one training session and one game Carlton did a lot of recruiting from Basketball background, so players looked bigger and stronger, the physicality got to the Dees at the end
  14. And that is the whole point I was making about Trenners, didn't panic with the sound of approaching footsteps, and nailed the pass The other one thing I loved watching today, when he had had his break, was Oliver in the 5 on 3 handball drill, his hands are just fantastic to watch, both offensively and defensively
  15. No, not that at all, for Rd 1 the way we are going, the coaches will hopefully have a minimum of 35 players fighting for 22 spots, Trengove included, that was the whole idea of what Roos and Goodwin set out to do. If Trengove gets in he will be there on merit, he is starting to show the signs in the drills of his class, which as I have said will only benefit the team At training, discuss the Rd 1 team with other watchers, we all agree would be nice to have 15 on the bench, because that is only way we can fit in all the players who are showing they deserve a spot at the moment [censored] we are in a good place at the moment
  16. Most of the team played well until they ran out of petrol, but because they are new the only two I can recognise on the field are Daisy Pearce and Melissa Hickey I have fun at the male training answering queries from supporters attending the first time, as in today, when somebody said who is nr 34, so the point about numbers is mute, if that is the point you are trying to make
  17. Nah Faulty it's like WW said, he is a very good option to have if we need him. He wasn't found out in the drills today, he looked like he did pre injury, a classy player with an ability to play at his own pace, but like a lot of others he needs to be the first one in the minds of the coaches for a position. I have spoken to him a couple of times he is under no illusions of what he needs to do Dom Tyson is working his arse off to get back coz he knows if he isn't on the teamsheet for round 1 he will have a fight on his hands to be on it for round 2
  18. He's fine FD, said before it is the speed between his ears which will help him, totally confident in his body now, did a couple of classy things today to show he is back to where he was, just by positioning himself properly to receive the ball and move it on quickly and efficiently
  19. Perfectly put WW, I am a bit biased when it comes to Jack, but he did look good today in the drills, will give it everything he has got which can only be a good thing for the team
  20. Nah, they do a lot of contact work in the rehab group, it is Crossy after all, drill today where they were wrestling one on one and then going for a lead, ANB roughed up Hannan a couple of times to test out his shoulders As for Spencer, who knows, just nice to have a big unit that can run all day and is really competitive, his kicking has improved out of sight, of course not in the heat of a game as yet
  21. I spoke to Liam Hulett as well, ankle coming along fine should be back in full training at camp next week As for the 2 young ruckman, this will be their story because of their size etc, working on 'building' them properly, so in and out of the main group
  22. I normally don't read your posts anymore, but I agree with you on Watts but not Gawn, Gawn drives the standards at training alongside Lewis Jones and Viney, he deserves his place in the leadership group, T-mac has leader written all over him, personally not sure that Bernie is that interested in being in leadership group same with Nev
  23. No it's not, all designs have to be approved by the AFL, that is why you end up with the same design of off-field apparel in each team's colours, didn't you listen to Peter Jackson's explanation of the clash jumper as well, AFL wants it to majority white, so it is majority white
  24. There were 2000 people in attendance for a practice match, despite the scoreline it was a good competitive game to watch, the Dees ran out of petrol in the last, no numbers wasn't an issue, only for the Dees nitpickers
  25. With ANB and Hannan who are fixtures in the rehab group, think they are adopting the JKH and Hunt model and hopefully making them bullet proof, Crossy really works them over Hannan is going to be a real asset, can kick goals with both feet, and is really good mark, working on his endurance constantly, so assume they regard that as the one area he needs work on, of course after one season in the Ammos and then one in VFL there will be no AFL base there so to speak
