we have only been here a few days, and look what we are doing to the place already. 'Ology is like that incestuous mob of 'tards that just moved in next door against your wishes. All day fighting, bickering, and hurling insults like 8 year olds with a crush, when after dark, all they want to do is root each other. Apologies in advance if we bring our bullschit and baggage with us.

you only live once young fella When does your Thai money sink get there? Say hi for me.
-
At least he used irw, and not something else. Maybe 'Land is like alcos anonymous, and will provide a fresh outlook on things?
-
oh no, its started............ ;-)
-
Most of "us" thought scummy was going long before he left. We are an emotional lot.
-
What is unfair? I said I only put his name in my scenario because it was an easy hypothetical trade, nothing more. Could just as easily have put a name like Tapscott in there. And i was having fun with the second comment, even though I am sure I wouldnt be the only person to think that. Calm down Mrs Blease. Jeez!
-
If Sam is out of contract, and wishes to go into the psd, we cant stop him, and then yes, GC or GWS would get him for nothing. I was just throwing a semi random name in there to give some realism. If I was a suspicious person, i would admit that I see similarities in the way Blease and scummy appear to be rather emotionless and detached from teammates, even when winning.

Nice examples I would hope we could swing it by something as simple as a no poaching rule for a set time. Would be perfect.
-
or even by trading a player for slightly under his value, to gws/gc, to get the handshake done. Remember that Viney is not actually costing the new clubs anything, and as such, they are effectively getting something for nothing (not withstanding the fact they wouldnt want us in their flag window) Lets say (for instance), that Sam Blease was valued slightly higher than Caddy from GC, but had a desire to leave. The option is there to accept that trade, providing GC dont nominate Viney. Not the best example, but im sure you know what I mean.
-
No. Nominations for father/son are completed prior to the trade period.
-
It would be like scumbags situation. We would all talk about it, and get all cranky and uptight because we know the truth, but in the end, we will never see the proof.
-
But wouldnt it be nice to hear the squealing? Stuff the other clubs, and dimwit. Lets play this to our advantage however we can. Can we borrow some visy brown paper bags? spelling edit....
-
At least we get to watch that goofy top 10 countdown, and actually be interested. I for one, hope we can swing a deal with the franchises, to prevent them bidding on Viney.

Our picks wont "remain" as 4 and 12 People forget the Bulldogs first rd (after first pick) compo. If the ladder stays as now, and the commies at afl headquarters didnt give any compo picks to anyone else, the picks would be something like this Pick 1 GC Pick 2 GWS Pick 3 Melb (Viney F.S) Pick 4 Melb (compo) Pick 5 Bulldogs Pick 6 Bulldogs (compo) Pick 7 Lions Pick 8 Port Pick 9 Nth Pick 10 Tigers Pick 11 Freo Pick 12 Carlton Pick 13 Melb (mid first round compo) With GWS also activating the pick it has following Adelaides first pick, our second round choice would be pick 25 Lets hope a miracle happens, and we can use 25 for Viney. cant see it happening though.

It may not be disingenous maurie. he may actually have no idea what he is talking about. Anyway, i actually agree with the premise that we were more likely to do better with pick 1, than 4 and 13, or whatever. I have always believed that is the compensation we should have received.

Dunno wyl I dont get there until Thursday next week. expecting to be greeted by the standard welcoming committee of hungry/thirsty natives though. Cant wait.............
-
I didnt think Billy boy stretch was available to be drafted this year? Oh well, i guess I am wrong again.
-
How do we know if we are better off, when we havnt even exercised our yearly right to stuff early draft picks yet? We might end up with another two scullys
-
Thanks for the generous offer. When I start to feel too good about myself, i will be in contact.
-
Thats one of the funniest, and yet most useful pieces of information I have ever learned from the internet. Thanks.

Hmmm, always thought it would be the case that many of the old "ology posters would find their way here under different names. Shame, as Hannibal was one of my favs, even though I didnt agree on everything. On a tangent, am I the only one that subconsciously shies away from jumping into a converstion/debate with certain long-time posters, while they are involved in a one on one? Hannibal was always one of them. Not sure why. Might have been the air of seniority. Always enjoyed watching the old stagers take each other on. TGR is another. I find myself only being able to take pot shots, and not engage in anything too in depth. Its funny what a difference a name change can make.

I'd like to see Blease give some to scully. It would tell me something about his character. Im expecting nothing out of the ordinary though, cos thats our style.

I watched on in horror, in 1988, and 2000, as we were dismembered by brutal, and unforgiving opponents, and since then, have been praying for us to have the same ruthless attitude to winning. Who wouldnt have liked to have Tapscott, Magner, and Clark available back then? Add Viney, and we may just be able to have the "fear factor" that we have lacked for decades. Good stuff Tappy, keep it up. Just make sure you stay on the park. But if ever we make a Grand Final, I want you to break as many ribs as you can son, and dont feel bad doing it. faulty

I would bet that, like Stakka, there have been a few sig changes, and many of those old 'Ology posters are still about.
-
Fair enough. I had a read again, and wondered what I complained about. Its normal to get defensive about your home site, especially when you see it withering before your eyes. Chook is one of the more emotional posters on 'Ology, but through weight of posts, carries additional clout. I dont have a problem with that. GSmith, Rivvo, etc, are compulsory reading, even when I dont agree. (rare) GOTO, is magnificent, and always worth a read. as is Casey, although he./she is available on both sites. Its a shame Tim wont hand the reigns to someone else. Biffinator aside, BigFooty just doesnt do it for me. Not sure why, as it is normally a good read. *shrugs*
