GWS made the mistake of recruiting players from the same junior club, or the same state, as a way of attempting to alleviate the "go home" factor. They should have backed themselves, and taken best available. Having said that, imagine their midfield with Adams and Treloar back in the squad. we would be touching ourselves like crazy if our midfield had as much talent. They really should have a cracker side this season.

4 competitive types in that whole list, and none of them a maniac like Viney. Oliver (by reputation) certainly signals a continuation of a very un-Melbourne direction. I hope he is as crazy at the ball as we have heard. Madmen with skill, win finals. Wouldnt we all love to see a winning final again?

As for the argument about Jones/Cotchin, haven't people, since the beginning of time, been saying that the greats should be judged by their influence in finals? Compare Cotchin with Hodge. Sometimes raw talent cant overcome whats lacking inside the head. Thats not to say that Cotchin isn't more talented than Jones. I just dont think the gap is all that big.

Back on topic, it will be nice to finally have talls who fly for the ball with "elite courage" Makes the mids much more confident to take a bailout long kick, when they have something to kick to. I hope this guy develops as a top ten pick should.

The people having a whine about it need to take off the P.C hat, and realise that there isnt one single person judging his football ability by his looks. They are only saying he looks different to what you would normally expect a player to look. Wada, just, WADA I hate to see the bummers get any value from players who are about to be banned. They will be laughing their heads off with this trade. The delaying tactics, and stupidity from opposition recruiters, has really worked well for the cheating filth. *If by some chance they are found not guilty, I think he will be a handy player for us. Looks like we really are trying to rid ourselves of a soft underbelly, by bringing in competitors. Hope it works better for us, than it does for essedun.

Not a shot at you personally, but how could anyone trust the clubs judgement, with regards to a specific WADA outcome? WADA are not appealing for fun, or to fight a losing cause just to show the world that they will chase the accused all the way. They are appealing, bacause they feel that the essedun players are GUILTY of using illegal, performance enhancing drugs, which may end in a 2 year ban for all players involved. Melbournes heirachy cannot have any inside info, as this is not an episode orchestrated by the AFL, or its lackeys. If they are found not guilty, and we trade our third round pick for Milkman, then all is good, and I would be reasonably happy with that. BUT Trade anything higher, and have Melksham put out of the game for ANY length of time due to a guilty finding, and I would be up the front, leading the chorus of voices demanding that whoever orchestrated the trade, be run out of our club forever, and that includes the coach in waiting. Simply cannot believe that we are looking at anyone from essedun. And if the scummers actually did ask for first round pick and Howe, then I would settle for nothing less than pushing him through to the PSD, and giving a nice, oversized, lengthy middle finger to the filthy scum.

Agree 100% Lam That line of thought needs to be applied to trades also. Ability under pressure is a non-negotiable in modern footy. Just ask the dorks.
