Pinball Wizard replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Has Clarrie gone in for that shoulder operation yet? Will Bernie get selected in the hope of winning his second premiership flag in 6 days? -
Post Match Discussion - Elimination Final
Pinball Wizard replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Also beat the Cats last week in the VFL and if Box Hill wins today then we play them in the Prelim next week. First the Cats and then the Hawks, both in the National and the State comp. -
Post Match Discussion - Elimination Final

Keep it coming -
I wouldn’t be discounting the Dockers. They have an unpredictably dual nature in that they are the competition’s Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde: usually very good on their home deck but they go shockingly when they have to travel away. Barring the local derby games, Freo are 7-3 on their home ground this year. Their scalps include both Adelaide teams and earlier this year they nearly knocked over the Eagles at the venue. I’m backing them in to upset the Pies.

Casey Demons v Williamstown - Round 21
Pinball Wizard replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Beg to differ about Wagner being the emergency. He filled that role only recently and needs the match fitness. I think it’s either JKH or Wagner to play at Melbourne and that Spargo will be given the two week’s rest. -
And his twin brother too ...

2018 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Pinball Wizard replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Clearly, our list management and recruiting people aren't as obsessed with early draft picks as were their counterparts ten years ago. They already have managed to pluck out two category B rookies for development at Casey including young Bradtke who at 18 years and 205cm seems perfect for that sort of role where he can patiently serve his time as understudy for Maxy. History shows there are still some good prospects in the 30-40 range and here's hoping our people can snag some more Fritsch/Spargo types this year. -
Casey Demons v Northern Blues - Round 18

I read somewhere that this game is being streamed by the VFL but does anyone have a link to the game? -

Great come back by Gus over the past month.

We need to work out how to avoid getting beaten at the stoppages when we have a clearly dominant ruck.

Jake Lever injury - Confirmed ACL
Pinball Wizard replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
When the medical team say they suspect an ACL, they’re usual pretty close to the mark. They simply need the mri results to prove the conclusions reached during their examination. -
There’s been noise about West Coast’s free kick advantage for at least four years. Nobody knows what to do about it.

I'm not sure if he will be around at our first pick but Sturt's medium forward Jordan Houlahan fits the bill if we're looking for an elite kicker of the footy. He's also a strong mark and an exciting player. If he's there, lock him in Jason Taylor.

I hear that there are two schools of thought about players being able to kick well on their non preferred foot. Some are saying that with the pace of the game as it is these days, it's best for players to work on improving their preferred foot than to spend their time on the non preferred. My view is that you can give me a Sam Mitchell every day of the week and that players need to be proficient on both sides. Thoughts?

Training - Friday 10th February, 2017 at Olympic Park

What the coach thought Recruits impress Goodwin in hit-out -
WJ in another thread quoted the AFL Prospectus earlier in the year with the top 25 young draft prospects and it included a SA ruckman Peter Ladhams. "Peter Ladhams Ruck South Australia Plays like: Robert Warnock A 202cm ruckman, impressed with his tap work at the 2015 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, recording a hitout win rate of 54% - ranked second." He seems to have fallen out of favour. Is that due to injury, poor form or that comparison with Robert Warnock.

So Corey Wagner gets a 2 year contract and goes onto the senior list. This leaves us with two picks in the draft. Hardly worth sending people up to Sydney for the draft meeting and certainly not worth tuning in to the telecast if you support Melbourne.

So this is the deal:- KEY DATES NAB AFL delisted player free agency period (1) begins:Tuesday, November 1 NAB AFL delisted player free agency period (1) closes:Tuesday, November 8 NAB AFL delisted player free agency period (2) begins:Thursday, November 10 NAB AFL delisted player free agency period (2) closes: Friday, November 18 Is there some reason why you can't list a player on November 9? What's the difference between period (1) and period (2)?

Those two picks might turn out to be champions or they might have fathers who weigh more than 200kg. You can't walk out on us now.

Lachie Whitfield under investigation
Pinball Wizard replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
I just realised that any draft sanctions taken against GWS this year would hurt the Giants deeply because they are supposed to have about half a dozen highly thought of academy prospects awaiting selection. My guess therefore is that the AFL will not do anything about this that requires a final decision until after the draft. -
Lachie Whitfield under investigation
Pinball Wizard replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
The AFL would of course not consider any sanction against GWS considering that a few of their officials and a player are involved in this knee deep.
