  1. I think the top 8's pretty settled.
  2. Dangerfield must be watching this and having second thoughts about joining Geelong, a club on the decline.
  3. I agree that these intraclub matches mean very little these days. In fact, what we saw last Thursday wasn't even a practice match in the traditional sense. Three x 20 minute quarters with 10 fill ins from Casey ensured it didn't have the same structure as the ones they used to play years ago. Main thing is no one gets injured and the coaches and players get out of them what they're after.
  4. They've included every available indigenous player including first year players. Neville should definitely make the team.
  5. I reckon we would have beaten them last year in round 1 but for the fact that we lost Tom McDonald (who was covering Riewoldt) and Jack Fitzpatrick early. We were already very short of tall timber and key position players and on top of that kicked ten points in a row after kicking the first two goals. The tide will turn this year - we'll beat them easily both times.
  6. WJ pointed out a while ago that a possible reason why Eddie had a problem with commenting about the Essendon was because he held a position on the board of one of David Evans' companies.
  7. If this poster pulled your other leg it would play Jingle Bells.
  8. Thanks for those who put in training reports. I sense they're a little more measured this year than they've been in the past. Perhaps because we previously tended to get wrapped up in the goings on forgetting that there are other clubs out there training at higher intensity and skill levels. Please keep up the good work of informing us as to what's happening and go dees!!!
  9. I saw Jimmy playing SANFL and state junior football and what we saw in 2013 was not the real Toumpas. He was recovering from two hip operations and was asked to play in a team whose more experienced players struggled to fend for themselves let alone look after their younger players. I'm confident both areas will improve dramatically in 2014 and Toumpas will show us what he's really made of.
  10. I don't agree with the bashing of Sylvia either but he failed to live up to expectations and never really gave the appearance of hurting like supporters do when we get beaten. I suppose that's just his personality. It will be interesting to see if he can rise above the hot and cold player over there that he's been at Melbourne.
  11. Well said JCB. I think this saga has galvanized the supporters around the board and, despite Caro's weasly attempts to suggest there is division in the ranks, we saw a united front at the AGM with the members right behind the club, as it should be.
  12. This is nonsense. What behavioural issues did Liam have at the club until that night in March 2012 at Alice Springs and who ever overlooked his behaviour, even then? Trying to understand what people do is different to overlook their behaviour.
  13. Interesting DV. This means that had Jordan McMahon missed the shot from 50 metres after the siren then Richmond would have finished last and it would be them facing a tanking enquiry not us. And they would have been serial offenders in the light of Terry Wallet's confession about what he didn't do against St. Kilda two years earlier. It's time for the AFL to investigate this a little more closely.
  14. I honestly believe that you've lost the plot on this issue. You answer everybody's question but the not so difficult one that I posed earlier about you sharing her views. Throughout the thread you've been conflating the legal definition with the generic definition. Everybody understands that multiple clubs offended in the case of the latter but Melbourne is being investigated for breaching the former and, as she concedes, Melbourne has a strong legal case in defending itself against this. But don't worry about being confused because you're in good company. The chief football writer doesn't understand either. Both of you are well out of your depth.
  15. Wilson shows contempt for our right to defend ourselves on the basis of legal argument which she admits is a very good case. She wants us to be punished heavily. You share that view?
  16. Based on all that I reckon Jamie Bennell's place on the list could be in jeopardy if we get Barry.
  17. Really? After witnessing his paltry efforts in the grand final I would have thought he was the last person to be criticizing another AFL club and it's players.
  18. It may well be that he was in the shadow of Collingwood's many on ballers but my friends who support that club were complaining all year about injuries and the like. One game suggests he struggled to break in even when there were injuries and I don't recall him setting the world on fire at VFL level either.
  19. It's all about Olivia - Port Adelaide's Jacobs' future cloudy
  20. Some scuttlebutt from a mad Collingwood supporter who believes there will be a twist to this tale and that they will end up increasing their offer to keep Cloke but in doing so will trade Dale Thomas to Carlton. Mitch Robinson could end up a Pie and come with a high draft choice from Carlton to complete the deal. The upshot will be that Wellingham stays because there will be enough room left In their TPP for them to retain him. No word from this source on any interest in Steph Martin.
  21. I too would love to know more about the famous cancelled session. It reflects badly on the way we were being coached in 2011 and possibly explains a lack of discipline and why the development of the playing group was stunted. The news of this had obviously come to Jim Stynes and his board but allegedly they were still contemplating Bailey's renewal as a coach in the days before 186. Interesting!
