A Day at the Races
Yes well thats also my question, does this apply to normal fixed odds 1 out bet? Or, is does it just apply to multis? Im mean why have a fixed odds bet if its not fixed? Im sure ive had odds come in before and still been paid the original price on multis......or does it just apply to scratchings? Im totally confused. Let me know how the sportsbet option pans out. How hard and how long it takes to sign up etc. Think im done with the TAB too. Its not the 20 bucks, its the principle.

A Day at the Races
Ok, i have a complaint. The multi i put on on Wednesday night, 3 legs, paying 81.00 or 8.10/1. Gailo Chop, Show a Star and Melbourne (w). Multi salutes thanks to the gallant efforts of the Dees girls team. (maybe a start for 1 or 2 come the season beginning). I went to collect my 81.00 and low and behold it paid out 64.00!! When i went to enquire across the bar at the said Pubtab, the tab representative said i should note the terms and conditions printed on the ticket which state, Refunds and Deductions Apply. He said if there are scratchings it can change the payout price. Well ive never heard of this before, and ive had more multis than a harem in ancient Greece!! Ok well maybe not that many, but still. I beg the question, why bother putting a fixed odds multi on in advance at all if the odds are not fixed, it need to be clearly stated. Rant over. Not happy.

A Day at the Races
They said Egyptian been racing in Qld and all the horses that had come down from there that raced today, havent done much. Show a Star looks good in the yard.

A Day at the Races
Well that was a heartstopper!! Well done @binman. 2/2....no pressure guys..haha.

A Day at the Races
I often do that as well...start proceedings around race 4 or 5 because the early ones are just a lottery at a lot of meetings.

A Day at the Races
I always wanted to name a horse, "Beyond the Pale" as in there is life beyond the feed bucket and/or this is too much to bear ! ...and Gailo Chop salutes....well picked me...!

A Day at the Races
Thanks for the input Binman. Some interesting picks there.

A Day at the Races
Also i like Silent Sedition in the last @Caulfield. Had a bit of an average campaign last Spring, but form prior to that was outstanding. If it gets anywhere near its best, should win this. Williams back on board as well. currently 3.10. Throw it into the mix.

A Day at the Races
Pays to get on early doesnt it. I have it at 2.60.

A Day at the Races
Quinella paid alright! Its a tough race alright. I think ive had the most difficulty picking winners at 1400. It that weird distance between a sprint and a staying race. Kinda both really. Im liking that spec multi. Some chances there for sure. The minimum return on that for your 5 dollar minimum outlay is close to 3k. Now were talking.

A Day at the Races
Would be very long odds to do that 3 times in a row.......lets hope he salutes! Question without notice....Is Egyptian Symbol any relation to Egyptian Ruler?

A Day at the Races
I was also tossing up between Show a Star and Gailo Chop. So i concur with your best bet D77. Well spotted. Ok so that leaves us with Egyptian Symbol, Show a Star and Gailo Chop. Multi them up now and you get 19.27/1 Oh yeah, and ive never seen a race where the saddlecloth and barriers are the same D77? The odds against that would be astronomical. Maybe they finish the race in the same order?

A Day at the Races
Oh ok so you did include that, sorry. We will have a pick 10 by the end of the carnival! Yeah its great people are putting the time and the effort in, and your right, you dont want your pick to screw up! haha. We must be shrewd at least ! I was on Galio a bit in the Spring, so it jumped out at me. But as you say have a look at the form in that race and for me thats a standout. Weve got the Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival on here this weekend, so ill be busy out and about with that. Will jump on early Sat morn. Pity we cant pin that race guide to the top of every page.

A Day at the Races
Thats exactly the way i see it Macca. There is also the 4th option of course, of picking all 4 horses in a multi! I think there is a way to do it, albiet you pay double, where 1 horse can miss and you still get a colllect although i dont think the math works out that well. Ive won over 1000 with 20 dollars on a 3 horse multi. The math on that means if you did 20 each week, you could go for a year before you would actually start losing. I think its really good to expore different betting options, as in last week where id completely forgotten about an option.

No one is asking you to do multis? Goodaye Binman and welcome again to punters corner, glad you can join us and your astute input is always welcome to us mugs. We like to put our heads together and come up with selections we might use in any manner of different ways including Win and Place. Its just part of the fun, but we have no rules. Looking forward to seeing your best.

A Day at the Races
Thats a great idea. Also im usually free on Thursday nights, so its a good time for me to have a look with you guys.

A Day at the Races
Ok thanks Macca, we are starting to put some semblance of order together. I like both Brave Song and Kementari, so yes thats a tough one. Box all 3 for a trifecta? So far then, we have Egyptian Symbol and Gailo Chop. If we put together we get 6.93/1 Ill take that any day.

A Day at the Races
I notice Goodfella is in Race 6.at WF. Thats on my list. Im going to make Gailo Chop my best bet Caulfield R 4 No 1. Should brain this lot. Its not paying much, but a leg in a multi is what it is right there. Another little horse i like and ive won on him before, is Smart Coupe. Caulfield R5 N6. Hes never missed a place in 5 starts and is paying 8.50. Last start 2 weeks ago at caulfield, 2nd over 1100 good barrier and has Williams on board. Main race is still to hard, i want to wait till raceday, see scratching etc. But ill put Thronum on top, followed by Brave Smash and Tosen Stardom. I also notice there are many small fields Macca, just how you like it.

A Day at the Races
Just looking at the Orr Stakes, I know Tosen Stardom is a great horse, but hes failed 4 times at 1400. Sure hes placed, but hes in barrier 14, carrying 59kg hardly favourite material is it? Surely his go is 1600 - 2000 and this is just a run?? I will have something on him i guess just so i dont kick myself. Might really have to wait until race day to see if something jumps out at me. haha....Caulfield correspondent it is then. I may actually be going up to Randwick or Rosehill for a day at the races with my old punting mate. I may very well be Sydney correspondent as well.

A Day at the Races
Nice one. I was wondering how you went? So there is a pattern of predictability to Sha Tin, thats interesting. Is that because its not on grass and there is no track or rail bias so to speak? Bring on the group races ! I think that 8/1 for Ace High on the Rosehill Guineas is the Best Bet for next month.
